Square Cast Pie Iron

I saw these on a recent episode of Michael Symon's "Dinners Cooking Out" and watched as he produced a fun "grilled" sandwich in his backyard. After doing some research, I decided the Rome brand used by Symon appeared to be the most durable and authentic of this type of pie irons. The family enjoys toasting marshmallows, so this seems to be a natural hit. The 4 ordered arrived, well packed and look like they will be around for 50 years if we take care of them. Looking forward to trying them soon.

They were much better quality than I've purchased at Walmart. They shouldHold up a long time.

Had these as a kid - and now as an adult.Our family loves these. We use them when camping, but also around the fire at the house. The kids all love "mountain pie night."After reading a lot of reviews we settled on the Rome cast iron pie makers. We found them to be very easy to season and keep clean. I recommend seasoning over a fire rather than the oven if you're able. The extra heat seems to really lock in those oils well. After that, just try to oil/butter your bread when using and they clean up pretty well and seem to stay seasoned also.We've tried a lot of foods in these and I have to say Mountain Pie Pizza on naan bread is pretty awesome.

Love these! They are good cast iron. Only problem I've had is that they put one of the clips on wrong. Also, you have to pay attention to which ones are pairs. 2 connect with a circle on the inside and 2 connect with a rectangle, I didn't notice that right away and my first pie burned because it didn't seal correctly.

Great old fashioned heavy cast iron body hope the steel handle and wood grips hold up as well to normal use but great so far

After burning the wax off and cleaning them, I seasoned them 3 times. I have since used them close to a dozen times. They have been mostly stick free, the only thing that stuck, was some very sugary maple bacon. Otherwise they have perform perfectly. I'm glad paid a little extra and got the Rome brand.

Very disappointed. Thought they were square got round. Will keep too much of hassle to send back. Too expensive

These are heavy duty and quality materials; however, because the plates aren’t removable from the handle, it makes it awkward to clean. A removable handle would also make it easier to season the iron (you could put the plates in the oven instead of on a grill or over a campfire) as well as to store and transport.
