Spring Replacements did the trick
Just when I thought I was going to have to discard and replace my expensive pruners, I gave these reasonably priced replacement springs a try. They worked perfectly, and I am thrilled with the result.

My mistake, be sure to check size.
Oops. These springs are only 1 1/4" long. (Which the description clearly states.) My fiscar shears require a 2 inch spring. The springs do work for another pair of pruning shears I have, but they are pretty light weight.

Fits most common model of Fiskars for sewing and gardening
Fits like a charm! The old spring was very worn out so if your hand is small or grown accustomed to the low-tension squeeze of the old spring, try wire-cutters to trim one of the replacement springs by half a centimeter at a time until you find a comfortable squeeze.
