Pleased with the purchase, good gift idea.
I've had this for a couple months, and it's been great. So far I'm pleased with the purchase, would recommend and would buy as a gift. I hope not to need a replacement anytime soon.

Definitely won't break!
I am so glad I got a metal French press. At least this one won't break like the last one I bought, which was glass. It is working well and I am very happy with it.

1.5L not really 50 oz
TL;DR I got only 36 oz coffee from this 50 oz press.I need to make a lot of coffee for a group of scout parents. I scoured the reviews of all the "50 oz" presses trying to see how many ounces of coffee I'd really get, but ended up not knowing and just buying this to try. While technically 1.5L is 50.7 fluid ounces, you won't get 50oz of coffee from this or any of these "50 oz" french presses. Yes, if you fill the cylinder to the top until it overflows, it holds 50 oz of *water*. But the useful limit is to the inside/bottom of the "spout" which only holds 48 oz of *water*. Any higher than that and you'll get coffee grounds in the spout and in your first cups of coffee. In practice, you first add 60-90g of coffee, then hot water. If you fill until water/coffee reach the bottom of the spout (stirring a bit to sink the grounds during the bloom), you'll find you only added about 40 oz of water. After 4 minutes I pressed and got only ~36 oz of (strong!) coffee from 40oz water and 90g grounds. You may get a few ounces more/less, but not not much. The best compromise I found was to boil 50 oz water, brew an exceptionally strong 40 oz of water in this press, pour 36 oz of very strong coffee in a thermos, then add the remaining 10 oz (50-40) of plain hot water to the thermos. In the end I got ~46 oz of 17:1 coffee, but too much trickery. I needed more, and repeatable. I returned this 50 oz press and ordered the biggest press I could find on amazon (59 oz ASIN B014U0ZNG6). I'll report over there after I review it.

A good size press for a one cup serving of coffee/tea
A good alternative if you do not want to make a large pot of coffee/tea. The press is easy to use. The coffee/tea has a good flavor perhaps better than a large pot, because it is a small amount so does not sit in the pot for a lengthy period before consumption. The beverage stays warm if it cannot be immediately enjoyed. The small size press fits well in the top rack of the dishwasher, and cleans nicely. I also appreciate the extra screens for use when the original screen wears and needs replacement.

Excelente Material.

Kinda chinsy, but gets the job done
A few annoying things, but altogether fine. Nice size for 2 small cups in the morning.Pros:-It's not glass and doesn't shatter when I drop it in the sink while doing dishes. Woo!-It came with 4 little filters.-The two metal pieces that hold the filters can be tightened from the top AND bottom with a cool little mechanism, so the filters are always tight. This is nice.Cons:-The most annoying thing is that when you unscrew the bottom part to clean the filters and two metal parts that hold it on, it is a pain to unscrew. Since the top "knob" of the plunger also unscrews, sometimes that wants to unscrew instead of the bottom. Just a little PITA I don't love every morning.-The plunger makes an annoying loud *clank* sound when you let it slide up or down that is more annoying than other french presses in my life. Again, another unwelcome thing inthe morning. I put a rubber band under the top part of the plunger so it at least doesn't clank when it slides one way.-On mine, the "knob" of my plunger that you push down is welded crookedly (see pic). That is not a big problem, but just shoddy craftsmanship.-It doesn't insulate the coffee as well as I'd hoped. I wasn't expecting hydroflask-level insulation, but even so, it's pretty poor insulator. Nothing a towel blanket can't fix to keep your 2nd cup warm.
