Great pole mat if you want extra safety for learning new moves!
My girlfriend does pole fitness, and she was bugging me to get a pole in the house for months. After much research, we purchased the XPERT Pro from X-Pole. This specific pole has an "X-LOCK" which allows you to switch from a static to a spinning pole (and back) in an instant with no tools needed. Now that we had the pole, we needed to take extra safety precautions. We looked into a variety of mat options and came across this circular crash mat from Pole Tribe at 3.4 inches thick with a diameter of 5 ft. At $195.95, I thought it was a bit pricey compared to other mats, but reading through the reviews gave me confidence in my decision. When the mat arrived, it came in a huge box, and it was covered in plastic. After removing the plastic, I saw the mat came with a fabric carrying bag which is nice if you'll be traveling with it. I removed the mat from the bag, and I saw it was divided into quadrants (four quarters of a circle). All 4 quadrants are connected together (except for one side with a Velcro flap underneath). When unfolding the mat to become a full circle, you can secure the last quadrant with the first quadrant with Velcro to keep it all in place. In the center of the mat, there is an opening for the pole itself. The mat itself is quite hard. If you're looking for a squishy mat that feels soft on landing, don't purchase this mat! Soft, squishy mats may be nice on impact, but they are hard to stand on or do any inversions. This particular mat is designed for dancers who may wear big stiletto-heels that would puncture a typical mat. I tried to crash land a few times, and although it was terrifying, it gave me peace of mind that I wouldn't actually hurt myself. I'm curious to see if the mat will soften up through continued use.As far as X-Pole's spinning functionality with the XPERT Pro, the mat covers up the X-LOCK. You must move the mat out of the way before enabling/disabling the spinning function. On spin-mode, the pole seemed to function fine even with the mat in place. So, if you're looking for a mat that works with X-Pole's spin-mode, my initial tests can verify that this one from Pole Tribe works. I will update this review further if I notice any issues with the spin-mode later on. Have fun!

Thick and durable
I am very happy with my purchase. The pole tribe crash mat is thick and sturdy. It secures while around the pole so it's not sliding. Works on spinning and static X poles and does not stop it from spinning. I did try it on my X stage and it only works on static because of the base plate. It's large enough to completely cover the stage. It's not super soft so don't expect to be landing on a bed of pillows but it is better than landing on a hard floor. I did test my 7-inch pleaser heels and it is puncture-proof I weigh about 200 lb and there was no concern that the heel would tear the material. Although I do not recommend practicing on it and heals very often as it is not a hard stable surface. I debated between this and a higher price option but I am completely satisfied with my purchase and have no concerns that even though I paid a lower price tag I'm still getting a quality product.

This will NOT fit a Lupit Stage right out of the box
This will NOT fit a Lupit Stage right out of the box (which made me more annoyed with Lupit than with Pole Tribe). I was hopeful but prepared for the possibility (previously answered question about whether the mat was compatible with spin mode + Xstage photo) and took off some of the inner corner with a bread knife (2" sided trapezoid) - it's workable now. It's not difficult to remove the foam from the cover, just time consuming due to size. May have to rip some of the seams connecting the segments so the pole doesn't rub against the case when on spin.I enjoy DIY as much as the next person, but wasn't excited about the necessity for a $200 item. Otherwise, happy with the materials and construction so far.

Great mat for home practice
I really like this mat. It's dense enough that I can practice spins, pirouettes, and floor work on it, and it's easy to remove, fold, and store in a corner when I'm practicing routines. Plus, it's a confidence booster as I learn to invert. One of the reviewers described it as 'hard' and said she hoped it softened up. I like its density b/c it protects me when I'm practicing moves that otherwise hurt bones and joints when I land. So I hope it doesn't soften up!Might be nice if it was just a bit wider than 5 feet. That said, it's a good width for when I'm sitting on it doing ab work and practicing shoulder mount preps and warm-ups.

Great Mat
I love that this mat folds up neatly and has a carrying strap! Thick, but not too thick. It's a little bit firm but I imagine over time it will soften up a bit. Either way, it's much better than landing on concrete! Love the sleek design also :)

Well made .
This is a thick strong well made mat . I could have gone with a 2 in mat with this product perfect mat even to do stretching on floor with. I wish the studios had mats like this .I will buy another in future .

Great Product!
The media could not be loaded. We loved everything about this mat! My niece thoroughly tested it as you can see :) The product itself is very well made and it comes with a great case for easy transport! I've taken a few falls on it and it's made such a difference, having a sturdy mat has made me feel comfortable to try new tricks that were outside of my comfort zone

Great mat for home use
Loving this mat! It's rather firm which I actually like, but plush and cushiony enough to absorb impact way better than a bare floor. Also great to stretch on :-) Perfect for home practice and great for the price! (Note: if you fall head first onto this thing you will still get hurt, as with any mat. Always be smart and use a spot when trying new head-down things!) Also - the 5 foot diameter is more than enough, unless you're expecting a huge gynmastics style mat. When I laid it down around my pole, I could see that it provides comparable coverage to the more heavy duty mats we have at the studio.

I’m really happy with it
This pole dance mat has saved me a few times already. I’m really happy with it, I love now that I can practice riskier positions and not feel scared. The quality is really good. It has plenty of cushion and its firm padding too- not super squishy like some mats when you step on them and you can feel the floor through it.It measures about 9-10cm thickness and about 150cm across. I'm really happy with it.
