Great Little Printer
I hooked this little printer up to a 12V battery and use it to demonstrate 3D printing at craft fairs, where I sell the 3D printed jewelry that I make with my Ender 3. It's great to have a small portable printer that doesn't need an electrical outlet for this purpose. People love to see how 3D printing works. Of course, the print quality ain't that great, but what do expect for this price!

Spend $50 more to get something more solid
This printer was easy to assemble. I will give it that.Within five minutes of assembly, my husband bumped the filament spool holder, and it snapped in half. I contacted the seller, and they were going to send me a new filament spool holder that looked like a different design from the original (which is probably for the best). So, they were at least willing to do that.Navigating the printing/software setup is not something a kid can really do. Shoot, some adults probably can't do it. I would say the same for a better printer, too. That's just something that needs to be said. The USB ports that came with the printer did not work with my computer. Luckily, I had a SD card adapter and port on my computer, and that worked. The printer also did not come with test filament. I have read in the reviews, however, that this test filament is not good, so . . . maybe that is a blessing. We did one print on it, which didn't quite come out as well as we had hoped. I don't know if that was a file or printer issue. The next day, we went to fire it up to try a new print, and the feeder motor was already dead. So, after about two strikes, we decided to just return it. Had it been a sturdier printer, I would have considered replacing the parts, but I had a feeling that it was going to be a constant battle with this one.The only thing that really made it any easier (for a kid's item) was the quick assembly, but ease-of-use-wise, it would be about the same as any other 3D printer.

Worked good for a short time
First off I want to say it took my husband 6 hours to get this thing working and then after that we made about 5-6 items over the next couple weeks and it stopped working. Good concept but doesn’t last.

Great beginning 3D printer
This is a great little 3D printer and we are having a lot of fun using it. I agree with other reviewers that the instructions aren't the best, so here are some tips that might be helpful to new users. 1) Most important, IMO, DO NOT use the filament that comes with the printer. It clogged our printer immediately and, from previous experience with a 3D pen and customer service informing me that old, dried-out filament was the problem, I deduced it must be expired filament causing the clog with this printer. Luckily I was able to clean the clog with a paper clip and needle - probably not the best because you risk damaging the nozzle but so far, so good. I recommend purchasing a roll of new filament like one I bought here on Amazon that was vacuum sealed and had silica dessicant inside - working beautifully, fingers crossed. 2) I had some difficulty converting files from STL to Gcode using Easyware 3D before I realized many of the files I was trying to use from various websites were in RAR - I used a website called ezyZip to covert to STL, then used Easyware to create the Gcode file for printing 3) Some of the files from websites were too big for the bed of the printer so I used Tinkercad to scale and it worked wonders 4) When the printer starts to print the outline of the raft, a glob of filament on the nozzle can cause the initial extrusion to catch and not stick to the plate - I watch at beginning of each print and make sure to try and remove any excess so the outline can form more smoothly 5) I think it's important to keep the filament in a position somehow above or level with the feeder tube - at first, I had it on the printer's hanger and then on the floor, and, both times, the filament got bent and jammed and I had to clean it out. Overall, this is a great printer for the price. I agree with other reviewers that an adult will need to assist kids, especially with the file conversion and tweaks. Also, there are a TON of cool Gcode and STL files on the EasyThreeD library - probably want to monitor that with your kids too because it's so random: cat, dragon, naked girl in the rain, frog, pyramid, naked yoga girl, Pokemon, etc.
