Leviton GFCI Weather-Resistant Outlet, 20 Amp, Self Test, Non Tamper-Resistant with LED Indicator Light, Outdoor Locations, GFWR2-E, Black

Not sure how to change a previous review but Amazon sent me a replacement for one that appeared defective. Problem was the instructions were not clear to me. I wired the outlet incorrectly at first because I couldn't tell which wires were hot and which went to the next outlet and it did not work so I rewired by reversing the wires but it still didn't work so I thought it defective. In the instructions which is easy to miss it says the outlet is set at the factory as "tripped". So then I knew you must press the reset button to untrip it or it won't work. Also, once you remove the tape on the load side it is easy to forget which was which but I saw online that the back of the outlet shows where line in wires (power feed) go and where load lines go (to send power to another outlet) but the instructions never mention this. Another problem was the outlet was a 20amp but the instructions showed a 15 amp (no L plug hole) so I couldn't compare it to the old bad outlet. I decided to keep the replacement as a spare and will pay for it when the return date passes. I've created this new review.

Excellent GFCI for wet rated application. I wanted a wet rated GFCI that was NOT also tamper resistant. It's getting very difficult to fond these since most new products are WR/TR. This product fit the bill. Easy install, easy to use. The only negative is that color choices were limited to black and white. I was replacing a grey WR/TR GFCI and would have preferred to use a grey replacement. This wasn't a big concern however.Note if you want a TR receptacle, then you don't want this product. It's only WR.

has a green light that lets you know it's good and on, very easy to install (be sure you know what you are doing before attempting, is very dangerous if you accidently let wires touch, be safe) had to return 2 other outlets that had horrible grounding setup that the screws didn't even tighten on.....this one is much better, insert in hole and tighten. works perfectly. will be buying more for a few more outlets i need to replace...on my to do list :)

Great receptacle for outdoor use. I chose this model because it doesn't have the annoying tamper protection. Tamper protection is a good idea, but in practice it is a big annoyance since prongs of the plug have to be perfectly aligned for a tamper resistant receptacle to open, which is often not the case. This receptacle is easy to use, I am happy with this purchase.

I switched from a 15 amp outlet so I could charge my EV using a 5-20 adapter instead of the 5-15 adapter it came with. It was a cheap and fast upgrade to add a few more miles per hour of charging speed. It also provides the benefit of adding water resistance and continuous testing to the outlet (just in case).

The reset button cannot be set using your finger since the travel depth is too deep. You need to use a pencil or small screw driver to reset this device. The device replaced a Leviton GFI in a 1/4 bathroom that only lasted five years and one outside. It was tested using a GFI tester that showed a failure although the device buttons showed that it worked! Very dangerous....The replacement Leviton unit now works with both the onboard and external tester. I have purchased numerous switches and GFIs from Leviton and the quality is just not up to my standards. Just feels cheap. Looking for other solutions going forward.

Bought a ten pack and the 6th one I used failed right out of the box. It would not trip when I hit the test button. Not only failed, but it is a safety hazard. Sucks because the return and service windows have both closed. Thought this was a good price until you figure in one fails out of the box. Guess I'll go back to buying them at Home Depot. Easier to return defective stuff.

I've been through 2 of these outlets over the last few years. They just stop working after a year or two. They are very easy to replace and the failures happen in a safe manner so I'll keep buying this product.
