Yes. It can be used in the freezer like refrigerator and so on.

Q: How do you clean this? Can you put it in dishwasher / washing machine?

I’m only lining cabinets for plates and dried foods so if they get dirty, I’d probably just wipe them off.

Q: For a kitchen cabinet shelf liner, which side goes down ? Is it flat side down and ribbed side up? Would like to be sure I'm using it correctly.

I think it depends what you are putting on the shelf. If you will be sliding thing regularly, then flat side up. The person who helped me said for spices and perhaps glasses that may be a little wet, ribbed side up is good. Would recommend trying it each way in a separate cabinet/drawer and see which one you prefer for a particular purpose. It's really a personal preference based on your individual needs.
