Good product
This is good if there is a thermocouple to control the heating temp.

Easy to use, great results
I've been looking at heated solder pumps for some time, having done some tricky repairs on aluminium backed circuit boards and motherboards with plated through holes, both scenarios result in the solder setting between heating the joint and then moving normal solder pumps into position.Decided to take a chance on this given the unbeatable price. Most pro heated solder pumps come in at hundreds of pounds, so although this model isn't a continuous pump, the price is very attractive.I was very pleased with how this pump is put together, the pump, or sucker, is a two part cylinder allowing you to easily clean the removed solder. It interfaces with the heated tip via a silicone seal which results in excellent solder removal. Before switching the pump on, I tested the suction by blocking the tip with my thumb. It showed typical levels of suction with the plunger stopping around half way back up it's travel until I removed my thumb. In practice, I was able to use this pump to remove a faulty voltage regulator. The larger pins on this sort of component have given me trouble in the past, so I was very pleased with the pump's performance in this task.Using the tip installed on delivery, I was able to fit the tip right over each pin. As the solder melted, the tip dropped down to the surface of the board as I'd expected. Releasing the plunger then removed all but a slight plating on the circuit board track in one go.Repeated on the other two pins, the component was removed in three actions. It is possible to use a little fresh solder to improve the transmission of heat to the joint, but I didn't find that to be necessary. The pump comes with an extra tip - one is 1mm and the other 1.2mm if I remember correctly, and a couple of o ring spares for the pump. The package also contains a small stand which I didn't use, having access to another soldering iron holder in my work holding.I was initially surprised by how this pump goes together, the cylinder gives the impression that it should have more of a positive clip engagement, but mine doesn't click into place, just sitting over the orange clips. On further inspection, I could see that the pump was sitting correctly. However, in using this pump I didn't find any problem in its construction and not having to unclip the pump to quickly remove solder from the pump turned out to be a bonus. As mentioned in the description, I did find that there was a little white smoke when I first turned it on. That stopped during operation. The pump features a power led on the rear to remind you that it's turned on. There are no power or temperature controls on the pump.I would definitely recommend this pump. The price Vs performance makes it a no brainer for home projects or home repairs, so much easier to use than a typical domestic solder pump.

Very cool
This is the first device of this type that I've owned. I had been trying to de-solder components using copper braid, which was a total mess, took many attempts, and put far too much heat into my boards by the time I was successful (burn marks, dry solder, etc.).I have no idea how this product compares to other products in its class, but compared to how I was doing it before, this thing is like magic... I pop the suction button, and the solider is gone, leaving a clean hole. The most satisfying part is how components just drop out of the circuit board on their own.The only disappointment I felt when using this, is that I didn't have more things to de-solder. I was actually looking around the room for more things to use it on, because I found the experience so satisfying and liberating.I'm not sure how I'd rate this item in particular, compared to other devices that do the same thing, since this is the only one I've ever used, but it works better than I ever expected. It has created a mental shift in me, where I can look at a component and think nothing of de-soldering it, where before I would groan and think "Oh God, here we go with an ordeal". This is so easy and fast, that I actually look forward to de-soldering components... because it's one-shot per "leg", and I get the satisfying rattle of a component falling on my desk after almost no work.I had thought of getting a higher-end model that does the suction automatically, but I couldn't justify the cost for my little hobby. I expected this to be a second-rate solution, and a compromise, but it really wasn't... the silly little suction tube doesn't look like much, but I can't fault the results. Clean holes and components just falling out of the board. This is probably a weird review with how excited I am about it, but it really has been one of my best "new toys" in a long time. If you're struggling-by with copper braid or lifting out one component-leg at a time like I was, this thing is like a dream, a total game-changer.

Works Well
Although the tip is quite large it works well transferring heat to desolder items. The included stand is not great but it functions ok. You also have a spare tip and replacement o rings for the sucker pump. It is easier than using a soldering iron and sucker, with this you have a free hand to hold your work.

Excellent Tool
Used to remove/replace components in various synths etc This makes it so easy it's ridiculous. The pump action is smooth and its easy to clean. Removes solder with a single action. Only complaint are the tips, used it a lot but both tips have degraded unfortunately. Still an excellent tool.

Works wonders!
It does smoke for a while on first use - as it says in the listing. This is quite unpleasant and you may want to go through this part outdoors. That said, it stops after a bit and after tinning the tip (just with solder) it works really well. I had rows of 16x1 2.54mm pitch pins to desolder and it was far better at it than a separate iron and (good quality) sucker. The pins didn't fall out but it was quite easy to push them out with a flat metal tool. Turned a nightmare of a job into a few minutes work.
