Lemon Sandalwood Shaving Soap with Ceramic Bowl - Lathering Shaving Soap & Premium Ceramic Shave Bowl

I ordered the Royal Shave Barber Supply Co. Lemon Sandalwood Shaving Soap in a white ceramic bowl. It came in good quality, compact packaging that secured the ceramic bowl. The shaving soap was separately wrapped in wax paper.I own a safety razor and badger hair brush from another company and hadn't used a shaving soap before. My wife gave the razor and brush to me for an anniversary gift and up to this point I had only used shaving creams. After watching a couple of general tutorials on how to best use the soap, I tried it out. I think it's a very good product. I love the smell of the soap and it lathers up very well. Compared to the creams I have used in the past, you need less of it and my nice shaving brush actually cleans up much better. It has taken some experimentation to figure out exactly how much water and soap needed to get the right lather (and I imagine everyone is different in their preferences), but it's quick and easy now. I expect the soap to last several weeks and the company does sell replacement bars without the ceramic dish.The ceramic bowl fits the soap very snugly, so if you don't have a separate shaving bowl, some of the lather can occasionally overflow and run down the sides when loading your brush. Again, experimentation will lead to the right proportions, etc. I don't have a separate bowl and I think the ceramic dish works great: the soap dries well in the bowl and it's nice and compact. Overall would highly recommend the product.

I bought this for the bowl, as it's colors worked well with my shave den decor, and they do. I had low expectations for the soap, and these were initially confirmed, because the soap cake does not fit the bowl as I expected, the scent was simple and ordinary, and the lather was a little difficult to make. Bear in mind I buy a lot of different shave soaps and creams, etc. and have been at it for a long time -- decades. However, I later came to actually like this soap. I don't think I changed much, the soap simply got better with use. It lathers up nicely and while not the most lubricative stuff, it is on par with many bigger name tripple-milled hard shave soaps. By the way, I use it with quite hard water in one house and quite soft in another, and it works fine with either. The scent is nice and not obtrusive -- goes away after rinse -- just what I like soap scents to do. While the soap puck does not fill out the entire diameter of the bowl, it does become stuck in a depression in the bottom of the bowl -- holds fast, works fine! My only complaint now is the bowl itself -- the very reason I bought this product instead of the handsome Sottish Fine Soaps brand soap and bowl which is no longer available (use the beautiful Socttish Fine Soaps bowl, throw out the soap and carve up and install a D.R. Harris product or whatever you like). The bowl on this Royal Shave is a bit of a disappointment, as it's glazing is somewhat porous and irregular, and the labeling looks considerably less than super -- details; it looks good on my nice Norwegian Blue granite counter top in my blue-white toned shave den. Anyway, I was surprised on the whole that this purchase was overall as satisfying as it is. I recommend it.

My husband discovered shaving soaps last year and now he prefers them over traditional shaving cream or gel. This one comes with a nice bowl to store it. My husband keeps it in the shower and so far he hasn't dropped it on the ceramic tile! It lathers well and has pleasant, masculine scent. It's not an over powering scent like some shaving products. My husband has been very pleased with this soap. Right now he's wearing the "five o'clock shadow" look as opposed to a full on beard, so he has been shaving his neck and cheeks.

Smells good nice bowl doesn't lather as well as expected

I know, I know, we are supposed to be buying Father's Day presents but you know what? I wanted a fancy bowl with soap to shave my legs. I LOVE this bowl. The soap fits in it perfectly. It's got a pleasant smell, it's not over powering like some of the other women geared products so that made my allergies happy. My legs were smooth and soft after I shaved with it. I love knowing my soap is safe from the kid and his bath toys with it's adorable lid until I'm ready to shave again.This would make an amazing gift for yourself or the man in your life. Or both!

I really like this shaving soap. The scent is great and it lathers well and stays slick. Get the bowl instead of just the puck and you will be happy with the quality of the bowl.

Very nice lather, great scent and gives a slick, comfortable shave. The bowl is a good solid quality, but could be a bit bigger to allow for more room to build a good lather in the bowl.

I really like the ceramic soap bowl that comes with this shaving soap. It fits the soap perfectly and has a lid to protect it when not in use. I wasn't sure what to expect with Lemon Sandalwood, but I absolutely love the smell of this shaving soap. I actually watched my sweetheart use it the first time, which was interesting. The soap lathers easily and well, unlike some he's used in the past. First he lathers up, shaves in one direction, lathers up a second time and shaves the opposite direction. His face is incredibly smooth and he smells fantastic for hours afterward. All I can say is MMMMMM.
