Electro-HarmonixOD Glove MOSFET Overdrive Pedal

Most useful overdrive/distortion in my collection
Although the EHX Glove isn't the bargain it once was, if you're looking for a versatile, great sounding OD, it's really worth trying one out. For reference, I own the following OD pedals in addition to the Glove:- Fulltone OCD- TS 808 clone- Boss SD1 (stock and modded versions)- Boss DS1 (stock and modded versions)I find the Glove to be the most transparent of the bunch and having the greatest degree of flexibility in drive settings. All of the others I listed, Including the OCD, color my sound in one direction or another. The Glove actually stays neutral and and provides tone control without already having boosted or cut part of the signal. It also can be used with only a small amount of gain to provide crunch in response to picking volume and attack. One thing to note is that I find with my setup (hot single coils into solid state amp), the overdriven sound it produces is more distortion than overdrive. I still get nice harmonics from it, but it's less of a fat and round sound than the TS 808, for example. I prefer this, but if you're wanting a rounder Tube Screamer tone, the OCD does that better. The nice bonus from this is that at high gain settings, you can get almost fuzz-like tones from it. And because it's neural in tone color, it actually works very well with a bass guitar as well. That was an unexpected discovery that I really have enjoyed.Really love this pedal and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a grittier OD with greater flexibility.

... hesitant about writing this as I'm not sure how useful pedal reviews really are
I was hesitant about writing this as I'm not sure how useful pedal reviews really are. The guitar, the amp, the player, and the pedal are all part of the tone. But, for me, this pedal turned out to be just what I was looking for. I wanted a dirt pedal with what I would call a solid, tight tone, and not a lot of fizz or exaggerated top end bite. I think that a lot of guitar players want the same thing. They want a good basic tone from their amp (most likely a tube amp), and they want a smooth overdrive tone, and, finally, they want a distortion tone that is distinct from the overdrive but not one that turns to a tone more reminiscent of a fuzz. Guitarists use many superlatives to describe pedal tones and how they compare with other pedals. There are hundreds of overdrive pedals, and all are essentially take-offs of the original Ibanez/Maxon Tube Screamer pedal. Whether they are stuffed with discrete components by hand and cost $300 or more (at though that is why they are so much better), or if their made with machine-inserted components, they all generate a sound that is in the same general tonal territory. This pedal, for me, is superior to most I've tried. IMHO, it is what a Hao Rust Driver could be if the designer had not made that one overly sensitive and way too noisy to used with single coil guitars. EHX made the right tradeoffs with this one it is is precisely in-between slightly over-driven and overly bloated or overly compressed. You don't need to spend $200 or $300 for a fine overdrive pedal. Buy this. I hope this is helpful. I use a Fender Strat with single coils into tube amps, either by Burriss, Mesa, Carvin, or Fender.

More Distortion than OD
I have a lot of OD pedals in my collection. I am constantly looking for something "better" than the last. I ordered this because of the great reviews and the fact that it seems to be a clone of another OcD pedal that is much more expensive. I loved this pedal at first. Really, I thought it was great and thought that I had finally found something that I would like more than my Blues Driver (which I love btw). Then I did a side by side comparison with the Blues Driver and, well, it just doesn't have the same power. This doesn't seem to push the preamp of my tube amps quite like my Blues Driver. That may not be what the pedal is intended for, I really don't know. I have gone through and adjusted this pedal as much as possible, including flipping the internal switch to 18v, and I just don't see to be able to dial in a nice, warm, touch responsive over drive. What I have been doing is using it in front of my Blues Driver when I want a little more edge. With all that said about the over drive sound, I will say that I feel like this is really meant to be a mild distortion pedal. It really excels as the gain and dialed up. It really has a good range of tones, just not what I like as a blues player. The distortion can be fat and meaty or it can be thin and squaky. I do like all the options on board with this pedal. I like the 18v options, this really does seem to give it more "headroom", and the on/off switch on the top gives you enough of a change to sit and noodle around with for hours. For me personally, I don't use a lot of real "distortion" so this pedal alone doesn't do the trick for me. I have found that I like it in front of my Blues Driver to pump it up a bit, but that is the only time I think I will be using it.Bottom line, not great as a over drive pedal (in my opinion) but does excel as a distortion pedal or to put in front of an OD pedal to add as another gain stage in your pedal train.I hope this helps, and as always, all ears are different. Go check it out at a local guitar shop if you can. You may love it.Rig:Fender Strat with 1 humbuckerWarmoth Fat StratFender Blues DeluxeFender SuperSonicMesa/Boogie mkiii

glad i bought it .
Great pedal and quite versatile.Allows you to switch from 9volt to 18volt while still using a 9volt adapter.Under the tone knob is a tone shifter switch which i thought was a little muddy for my taste in the off positionbut each to there own i actually need to mess about with it a bit more to be fair. The drive goes from pretty light to thunderous got some real authentic sounds out of it.This is my go to pedal when i try something new or emulate another band sound and most of the time it works for me and if not i can stack it with other pedals all in all an excellent pedal well worth it.

Amazing tone!
This pedal is amazing. It wasn't entirely what I expected as I didn't realise it would have such a blues-y tone. However this doesn't devalue the product at all for me even though I never really play blues. As a person who plays a lot of punk I almost never turn the gain knob past 12 o'clock so I wouldn't worry about how much gain it offers. Just make sure you have a power supply because this thing (along with most other pedals) can drain a full 9v battery in just a couple of hours!

Best value, best performing Marshall style OD pedal on the market.
A brilliant overdrive pedal. Fantastic value for money. It captures the sound of a driven Marshall when used on clean amp settings. In front of a real Marshall you can plug into the low sensitivity input to drive the output valves hard with the Master volume on 10 and set the pre amp volume low and get a brilliant full on tone at sensible volume. At full stage volume into the high input with both Pre amp and Master volume up it's an absolute monster.Highly recommended.

Superb tube tones
Lovely sounding boost, overdrive and distortion. The distortion has a really nice saggy analogue character. Powerful EQ. Low noise floor. For high gain metal, you probably need to get another pedal though.

Amazing pedal! Great tones
Amazing pedal! Great tones, big dynamic range and very responsive. It can boost clean sound or go very heavy. The mid boost switch for lead is great too!
