I had a mild stroke many years ago. Because of that, my doctor wants my cholesterol in the OPTIMUM range. Not easy with some family genes. When my cholesterol started rising a few years ago, my doc wanted me on a prescription statin, but I did some research and discovered sugarcane Policosanol. One capsule a day of this strength, helps me stay in the optimum range. If in doubt, why not give it a try. The alternative (prescription meds with more side effects and less effectiveness) is not appealing.
