it works well as intended

I bought this as a present for someone who loves to make smoked old fashioneds and I was told that the chips leave a wonderful smoke taste. This flavor was hard to find and I'm glad I found it.

10/10 merchant needs to offer a variety more wood chips though.

This is a great product and the flavor provided was great. The bag is stuffed full and about the size of a birthday card so when you would reach in it was packed tightly and spilled a couple of times. Also, it didn't burn quite as well as I would have liked sent me a Roma was more subtle than I would have expected. It's a very good product, worthy of repurchase, but I wouldn't say it's an outstanding product and this is something that is used by craft cocktail mixologists at bars charging $30 for drinks so I wanted outstanding

The product is exactly as described and the quantity is generous, especially for the relatively low cost. I had to transfer them to a different container as my fat fingers didn't fit comfortably in the bag. Small criticism easily rectified.

Anybody else have that 30-something son you have NO IDEA what to get for Christmas? Yeah, well I have 3 of them! So glad one has a great hobby and he was THRILLED with this Christmas gift.Now I have a go to for gift giving.

Our son buys this same product from the same vendor. Thought I would give it a try. 86% is tiny dust particles. Our son looked at what we received and said his is nothing like ours. Tiny wood shavings. Our dust will not burn enough to produce hardly any smoke. Purchased more on Amazon from Foghat and it is perfect wood shavings. Waste of money that is headed for the trash.

First thing I noticed when I opened it was a lack of any type of aroma, not the faintest hint of mesquite. The wood actually smelled stale, like I was shipped an old bag that had been sitting too long.I tried many times to keep the smoke going, but without constant attention, they refused to smolder and smoke. I compared it to my cherry chips from a different manufacturer, and even though the bag as a few months old, there was at least a pleasant, earthy aroma to them.As a scientist, I decided to run several small controlled tests, with varying amounts of oxygen, air flow, air speed, etc. I even moistened the cherry chips to try and give some sort of edge to this manufacturers product. Even when damp, the cherry chips stayed smoking, and performed how wood chips should perform.I will not be using these in the future and will look for a different manufacturer for the near future, as my recipe would have been wasted and potentially ruined all my prep and time spent creating my smoked product. Only reason I didn't give 1 star was because the chips weren't moldy or contaminated.
