The Wayfarer's Handbook: A Field Guide for the Independent Traveler Review: This is a Great Book!! - The Wayfarer's Handbook is how all travel books should be written. The author has put together a perfect combination of real life experiences, travel tips, survival, history, and geography into a well crafted guide of not just how to travel, but why you should travel. This book is very easy to navigate. At times it feels as if the author is right there with you, helping you put together an emergency kit or over coming seasickness. I personally love the section on "Wildlife Myths". This is not only a great travel handbook, but a great story. I recommend the hard copy, it is beautifully done and a perfect size. The perfect companion for your next adventure!!
This is by far the best travel book I have ever read. I highly recommend The Wayfarer’s Handbook for both the experienced traveler and those just beginning on their wanderlust journey. Unlike most travel books, Evan S. Rice provides the reader with advice on how to travel, not where to travel. The Wayfarer’s Handbook is also full of informative charts and maps that make this a very fun read. Evan S. Rice has inspired me to continue exploring.

Take This Book With You!
I always enjoy travel books, but this one is one to take on a trip, along with a good guidebook. It's packed full of travel facts and tips, some of which I had no clue about such as independent countries that aren't officially recognized by the UN, amongst many other things. It's a good book for both the armchair traveler and globetrotter and I can't recommend it enough. Happy travels!

This is a great book to read either before going on adventurous world ...
This is a great book to read either before going on adventurous world trip/wandering or to have as a bedside companion (and, yes, even a bathroom "reader"). While not to take the place of true "travel guides," this is something that will make the traveler a bit savvier in these possibly-confusing days of travel. It also gives some interesting insights into other cultures, as well as some cool things to bring up at your next party or pub crawl! Highly advise picking it up to be the best rounded traveler and world citizen you can be. Enjoy! (I took away a star because it could stand to have a better system of locating specific information it contains -- but read it and dog-ear/highlight to your heart's content!)

It's fun, informative
Every generation or so has a magnificent book that re-maps the world and guides us travelers. Evan Rice's Wayfarer's Handbook is this generation's guide for the world traveler. It's fun, informative, wild at times. I just gave my copy to my sister who is heading out on her own adventure. She's in good hands (if she doesn't lose it).
