Murach's CICS for the COBOL Programmer

So far I have read the first 9 chapters and I can say it is so well written that it's easy to follow and understand
I have worked with mainframe for more than 15 years, also with Batch COBOL but never had a chance to work with CICS Cobol. I have bought this book with the expectation to have an idea about what it is and to be able to study it by myself hoping to have a chance to start working with it if an opportunity arises. So far I have read the first 9 chapters and I can say it is so well written that it's easy to follow and understand. The examples are very clear and everything is explained as if you were at the University or taking a course in a workshop.Murach's series have found out a very friendly and clever way to teach things. I have read some other of their books like Murach's Mainframe COBOL, and Murach’s OS390 and zOS JCL, and I feel lucky I've found them. I strongly recomend this and the rest of their mainframe books.I have a feeling that it should be the same with their web books.

Instant fan of Murach
Love the format of how Murach instructs through this book. Will definitely entertain buying other Murach instructional books. Doesn't seem like you're reading an instructional book.

Great teaching and reference tool.
I have been away from the IT industry, in which I did ERP implementations, for 3 years. I wanted to re-enter the industry via the IBM mainframe route. This book has helped tremendously.

A good very basic introduction to command level CICS
This book appears to be targeted to those who can barely spell CICS and have been coding COBOL for no more than a few years. It has a feel of being very, very basic. Not quite condescending but they assume you know nothing, which I guess is the safest way to write a book like this. I only wish they had gotten into a bit more detail about some of the slightly more advanced functions. My background is in macro level CICS and I wanted to learn how to code the same functions in command level. Not all I had hoped for was covered in this book. If you really know nothing about CICS, then this will probably prove a very helpful book. If you have been programming for years, as I have, and need to finally get up to speed on command level, prepare to slog through a bunch of stuff you already know about programming to get to the few bits and pieces of CICS specific knowledge.

Learning CICS
This is an excellent text for beginning CICS programmers and experienced COBOL/CICS programmers. It covers the basics in an easily understandable manner and does not assume a level of knowledge that leaves the new programmer wondering what he missed. The examples provide a good start to learing by doing. I bought the book to update my programming library and found it a good review and reference

Good book for the novice, or if you need a reintroduction to CICS.
The book was interesting, using simplified real-world examples to get the point of the chapter across to the reader. The natural progression of the book allowed you to stay on a steady path of discovery. All in all, a very good book.

Tecnología obsoleta - Profesionales demandados
Hay muchos desarrollos de esta tecnologia, con cada vez menos profesionales, todos los libros de Murach de esta serie son estupendos, mucho mejor que ver los manuales digitales de IBM
