It's a book
Well written book since I had no knowledge of DMR. This book covers most of the basics doesn't really explain how to program your radio or even what you want in your radio but you possibly could decipher that just from reading the book it's a good book after all it's a book it does its job

WANT A DMR BOOK BY A REAL-DEAL PRACTICAL HAM?
If you've been around the block on websites that pitch DMR radios but don't get into the real-deal details of DMR programming and use or offer practical tips to avoid problems before they happen, then THIS BOOK IS YOUR FRIEND! I was, frankly, as an old guy analog ham scared of DMR. After this book, I am no longer scared at all, and all my most important questions have been clearly and categorically answered. My only problem now is convincing a bunch of other old guy analog ham buddies to make the jump to DMR! So, I bought a second copy to lend. Thank you, thank you, thank you Andrew Barron! The author rocks real-world ham explanations and tips that avoid disasters. Nobody can make DMR computer-geek stuff simple. But Andrew Barron makes it understandable and within-reach for confident amateur radio DMR operation, even for old analog guys like me. Rock on ZL3DW! --Carson

Good basic DMR radio.
This book gives a good overview of dmr, plus is a good reference for using and programming a uv-380 radio. In fact I went out and bought one. I recommend this book. I have been a ham (Advanced class) for 50 years and a radio technician for a large city Police and Fire radio shop as a municipal employee. This book is very useful.

Outstanding guidebook!
This book is a superb guide for those interested in DMR. As programming a radio for the mode can be quite complex, you’ll find this book to be your best friend. And it fills in a lot of holes that the YouTube videos just can’t cover.

It is really NOT a step-by-step, easily used manual
Much basic information about rooms and repeaters and reflectors is missing. I need much mor than this book and a dmr radio to .”get on the air”

Very Useful Insight
DMR as a technology is relatively easy to understand and is a European standard. However, radio amateurs just love to complicate things. The DMR used by hams involves multiple networks, clusters, repeaters, hotspots, talk groups and reflectors. So confusing. This book paints a clear picture of the confusing world of amateur DMR. Well written and very informative. If you are into amateur radio DMR this is essential reading.
