This is fabulous! Way better than the plastic type and much more efficient. The hose doesn't tangle and the length is great. It rolls out super easily and the built in guide insures that the hose rolls back in evenly with little effort. Genius design. The housing is a nice color metal and is very sturdy and heavy enough not to tip over if you roll the hose in and out slowly. The hose is quality as well. Love the look. I couldn't be happier.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I like the idea of a fully enclosed hose box and in fact had an older SunCast box that unfortunately succumbed to the elements. Most hose boxes are either cheaper plastic or inordinately expensive.This unit was reasonably priced and seemed the closest to the reel that I was replacing. The unit is well-made and sturdy with robust hose connections, and the winding mechanism is very smooth with minimal effort required to reel in my 100 ft hose. I did have to purchase a longer reel to hose bib connecting hose since the supplied hose is very short and really assumes your hose bib is right adjacent to the reel box. Giraffe offers connection hoses in a number of other length that are well constructed. Overall seems to be a good value.

I bought three of these several years ago for my front and back yards. They have worked very well in that they are heavy enough not to move around when you unreel the hose and the automatic hose guide allows for easy re-reeling. The only issue I've had is that they come with a cheap (5ft) extension hose piece that goes from the reeler to your faucet. I usually turn off the water after using the hose but forgot once. I was awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of gushing water. The hose faucet connector is poorly crimped to the hose and had blown off with the water pressure (60psi). This can be fixed by buying a better quality hose extension but is rather annoying on an expensive hose reel box.

I got so tired of buying the cheap plastic reels that last about one or two years so I splurged on this one. It’s way better than I expected. Quality built and aesthetically pleasing. Don’t hesitate to pick one of these up.

Let me start by saying that my experience with Giraffe Tools hose container has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the defective product to the abysmal warranty service, this company has managed to disappoint at every turn.Upon receiving the hose container, I was initially impressed by its design and promised functionality. However, my optimism quickly turned to frustration when I discovered that the unit was defective. The reel mechanism was jammed, rendering the entire container useless. The belt would fall off the spline while rotating, the spline wasn’t fastened to shaft.In my attempt to resolve the issue, I reached out to Giraffe Tools customer service. After explaining the problem and providing a video showcasing the malfunction, their response was shockingly inadequate. Instead of acknowledging the defect and offering a prompt solution, they suggested sending me a replacement belt. A replacement belt for a jammed reel? Are they serious?When I insisted that a belt would not fix the underlying issue, they backtracked and said they would need to send a screw from China for me to fix it myself. Yes, you read that right. They expected me to wait for an international shipment of a single screw to repair their shoddy product and do a tear down of the unit.Frustrated by their incompetence, I turned to Amazon for assistance. To my relief, Amazon promptly resolved the issue and provided me with a satisfactory solution. Their customer service was efficient, understanding, and focused on resolving the problem, unlike Giraffe Tools.What's even more disappointing is that Giraffe Tools boasts a two-year warranty for their products. However, when it came time to honor that warranty and replace the defective unit, they failed miserably. A warranty is only as good as the company's willingness to stand behind its products, and Giraffe Tools fell short in this regard.In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Giraffe Tools hose container or any of their products.Their lackluster quality control, dismissive customer service, and failure to honor warranty commitments are clear indicators of a company that prioritizes profits over customer satisfaction. Save yourself the headache and avoid Giraffe Tools at all costs.

Great hose reel. It was easy to install and easier to use. No other fittings are needed to connect it to a hose bib. My wife loves it !!

Easy to put together and we love how the glide works to wind up the hose.

Works OK, but there are some definite quality issues. There was a screw missing, so the back lid was not attached properly. I did not have the screw I needed to fix it, but I jerry-rigged something that will do. Not a huge deal, but I thought it was funny that they took the time to put an "inspected" sticker on it. Made out of a thinner gauge steel than I expected, and the hose's real winding mechanism is made of plastic, so I expect that to give out in the not-too-distant future. Bottom line is it will do the job it was intended to do, but the quality and workmanship were I bit less than I expected.
