Delicious, packaged well
My local liquor store carries this brand but not this flavor so it was nice to be able to find it online. They quality is great and these were packaged very well to ensure no leak or issue.

I don't like root beer - teen does - we both loved this
Frankly, I think root beer is a nasty thing that I explain away as being an acquired American taste. Didn't really grow up with it, too sweet, although that may have more to do than my salty tastebuds than any geographic boundaries. My grandmother is offended because what's beer without BEER. That sort of thing. My uber American 15-year old, however, loves root beer. Insists I buy it - but ONLY in glass bottles and with specific prescribed brands (might I mention $6 for FOUR on sale). I am tired of the waste, and I am tired of purchasing the wrong bottle (and let's not get started on La Croix). So, when I finally replaced our broken soda stream, I immediately looked for root beer replacements to someone's unfortunate ("but I can't have caffeine because coach says" but sugar is okay?) habit - I am sure there is a parenting book for this particular teen phase, but I am keeping 'em alive to 25 and paying the orthodontia bills folks. My parents call this "choosing your battles" - I am sure I have NO IDEA what they are talking about.Seriously though - this was good. Don't know about as a cocktail but as a soda, I can smell it without it just being sweet and I can actually taste it - more like a cream soda perhaps. It doesn't have a chemical taste and is not too sweet. It smells heavenly.Bottom line: My resident root beer connoisseur loved it. I loved it. Enough I sought out their website the day we tried it and bought three more. Not too sweet with clear herbal notes evident - I can taste more than just sugar!

Excellent soda! Nothing like root beer you probably know.
This syrup is very, very good. It's herbal but not too herbal, the right amount of sweet, and overall very interesting and tasty. It tastes higher quality and more complex than pretty much every other syrup I have, italian or otherwise. You can tell there was a lot of love that went into this recipe. But beware that this is not what most of us know as root beer. This doesnt have the signature sharp flavor, likely from the sassafras tree, that you notice in most common root beers like Barq, A&W, IBC, etc.It doesn't taste anything like any root beer that I've ever had, that being the common brands and many different craft root beers. But man, is it really interesting, and really really good. And if you like root beer, I'd say there's a good chance you love this too. But it's different. My only critique on the flavor is that something in it, I think clove, is stronger and more noticeable than it ideally should be.

Very strong taste of black licorice
Its +$30, and I'll get about 5 drinks out of it. It doesn't even taste like root beer. It really just tastes like black licorice. It would be cheaper for me to buy a case of root beer and have it shipped internationally (and taste 100% better too). I can't see buying this ever again, even at $2 a bottle.

Phenomenal Product. Great Price.
This is hands down the best soda syrup I have ever tried. I went with a product from Portland because I thought maybe the trendy hipster crowd would be a good market for the grade above the generic syrup flavors, but what I got exceeded even those expectations. The syrup tastes as advertised on the label. Naturally flavored Infused water with cane/brown sugar and molasses for sweetener. The sarsaparilla, anise, and clove blend is exactly the right taste for a vintage root beer and the natural sugar keeps the whole blend from becoming too syrupy. As a soda water mixer i found that the mix is VERY INERT (Not volatile at all). When I poured all recommended 2oz in, I saw NO FIZZ eruption not even a foamy head, just no reaction at all.As a Liquor mixer, I found the suggestion on the back of the label a little too sweet for my taste when mixed with a rye bourbon whiskey but I remedied that by using less mix.Anyway, 5 stars, but.... I wish it didn't have to ship all the way from Washington state to Florida!

Delicious syrup that works great with SodaStream
We were given a SodaStream and we love to make sparkling water. We're not regular soda drinkers but enjoy a drink every once and a while. SodaStream has their own brand of "craft syrups" but they don't have root beer. Their main root beer syrup has artificial sweeteners. This made me search Amazon for a root beer syrup. I'm glad I found this syrup by Portland Soda Works. I was impressed when I messaged the company on Facebook about calories and they responded quickly. The taste is amazing. It's rich, full, and sweet but not too much. It puts mainstream root beer to shame! We mix 1oz of syrup and 6oz of sparkling water and then add ice. It foams up nicely too!

Really good when used correctly... doesn't last long when used at the dosage needed.
This syrup is good... and makes some great root beer. a glass should have "almost a finger" of the syrup in it for the correct flavor + foam. However, using "almost a finger" means you get like 8-12 glasses of rootbeer out of it. For $16 a bottle, thats $1.5 - $2 a glass not including CO2... which is too expensive to be honest. You're not saving any money, and for the price + trouble A&W in a can is fine too.

Need WAY more syrup than advertised.
The flavor is amazing, but you need to use almost 1/3 of the bottle for a standard sodastream bottle for it to not taste like seltzer with a little spice. I love the natural ingredients and its light taste, but $13 doesn't go a long way unfortunately.
