100 Hot Licks for Pedal Steel Guitar - Essential Soloing Phrases for E9 Tuning (Book/Online Audio)

I have played steel for many many years. I used to make my living on it now I play a lot more guitar and I needed to get my chops back together. I also was trying to learn how to pick block. Excellent licks to practice pick blocking technique.And the way you can look each lick up, slow it down and do other stuff with the online audio is excellent. Great book.I have a lot of books from many years ago that used to have a cassette with them, but the cassettes been long lost. This whole system is excellent.

Some of the licks were cool and some were meh. If you're new to the instrument, it's good practice and can give you some ideas. One review complained that the licks were too short. I don't know what they were expecting because "licks" are usually a measure or two long and that's what you can find here. The licks are presents in different keys but do not make heavy use of open notes and so it's very easy to transpose the licks to whatever key you want. The licks are pretty good in terms of variety with some short but very usable speed picking licks and others being slower licks. It's a solid book that could spark some inspiration. Pretty good purchase.

This book is fine but it is nothing special. Yes there are 100 licks, but most of them are one or two measures long (very short). There’s also no context to the riffs. I’m just using it to spark new ideas for myself… open the book and play a random riff to get started. Good for warming up. Beyond that, it’s not going to teach you to play steel guitar. It is what it is. I’m not mad at it

This guy is an excellent steel guitar player in this book is probably great for someone who is moderately experienced. Not a book for the beginner.

Each "lick" is usable and something that I've heard in a song, sometime or another.

Nice licks. Goes from beginner to somewhat advanced.

when I ordered this book I thought an audio disc was included, and it says on the book audio included, but there was no audio disc with the book?, if you look on the front of the book it says audio access included, and on the back of the book it says audio included featuring a demo of every lick.

The licks in this book are very short but great for practice.
