Amazon Basics Rotary Pencil Sharpener

I don't like electric pencil sharpeners as they tend to be more high maintenance, harder to control the sharpness with, and are attached to cords that get in the way. I also don't like wall mounted sharpeners because they damage the wall and I'd rather be able to move the sharpener as needed. This sharpener is perfect in these regards. It sharpens very well and I can control exactly how sharp I want my pencil to be. Unlike some other standalone (as opposed to being wall mounted) pencil sharpeners, this product has good weight and height to it and doesn't move around as I turn the handle. I use this mainly to sharpen graphite art pencils and have sharpened pencils of varying hardness (4H to 6B), and never has it broken the lead while sharpening it to a very sharp tip. I have bought two more to keep as backups/possibly use for colored pencils. Having an additional built in manual sharpener in the receptacle is ingenious and extremely convenient. It has nice neutral colorway to boot and is very reasonably priced. Absolutely no complaints so far and I hope Amazon will continue to keep this item in stock.

It’s the home-stretch of the school year in Kindergarten and all of my electric sharpeners have kicked the bucket. I had resorted to using hand sharpeners and when that became too much work for just me I handed out hand sharpeners to each of my kinders, so they could do their own, big mistake.I ordered this sharpener out of desperation, my faith in electric sharpeners lost. My patience with pencil shavings withered. I watched a couple videos of this manual sharpener and was impressed, sold!It took me a minute to get acclimated with the process of using the pinching and pull out mechanisms, but after a few pencils, I was sharpening pencils at a therapeutic rate. The sharpener really does a great job in just a few cranks. A month+ later, it seems to be standing up to my workload of Kindergarten pencils like a champ. Fast, efficient, durable, cost effective, definitely worth your money.

Needing a new pencil sharpener around the house, because my old electrical one had a gear where the teeth had worn down so much it wasn't able to spin the cutter, and there are no gears sold by the company or the right size found online for a decent price. It was better to buy a new pencil sharpener, but I wanted a manual one this time around.I was iffy on making the purchase of this one as it doesn't show it in the images but it DOES COME WITH A DESK CLAMP. I was very pleased with this. And it works great.I don't like the press in and pull out thing in order to sharpen a pencil, but whatever it works great at a great price.If you're thinking about purchasing this just do it. It sharpens those Amazon Basic pencils you have just fine.

I, like probably most teachers, have been through way too many electric sharpeners that either break or just get iffy after a short while; even nice, expensive ones.So far, after three weeks with lots of usage, every pencil comes out super sharp, no matter the brand or quality of pencil. It’s also a neat new design I’ve never seen before. No mounting or suction cups. It works great, and it’s kind of fun for students because it’s a little weird (first, pull out the face panel, then pinch the levers, then put the pencil in, then push and hold the sharpener down, then sharpen, then pinch it again to get the pencil out, and voilà: the sharpest pencil in the universe).

This is best office sharpen in good price but its heavy and big for me

This is an excellent product. Sharpens pencils in a flash. And, since colored pencil lead is soft and dulls the electric sharpeners by coating the blades, I especially like using this sharpener for colored pencils because it is easy to clean/remove the stuck softer lead. This is a must-have for the classroom. It's easy to use and clean!

I didn't have high hopes when I saw this show up on a "Deal of the Day" offer, but after using a it a few times, I'm impressed.I'm not one to gush about retail products. In fact, I'm usually pretty hypercritical. I always thought that the gold standard was those old Boston sharpeners that we had in grade school, but in retrospect they would sharpen a pencil about 90% done and then, SNAP. The tip would break off. And you'd do it again. And again. And again. And you'd end up with a badly sharpened pencil that was about one inch long.On the other hand, this sharpener just WORKS. Every time. You pull out the clamp and place the pencil it it, turn the handle, and when it's sharp it stops. Just right, every time. I'm honestly surprised at how well it works. I'd buy it again without hestitation.

There is NO suction cup on this unit so don't expect one!This unit works really well when attached to a table top or counter with the clamp. I was lazy and used at my desk pushing down on the top of the sharpener to stabilize it. Worked ok, pencils came out nice and sharp but it is made to be clamped so that is what I will do next time.Excellent buy for the money! Would buy again.
