I was looking for a dome that would cover something that would otherwise accumulate dust, and it definitely fits the bill, it's just wider than I'd anticipated. Sure, I should realised, I was just concentrating on height rather than width - I'd have preferred something a bit more slender. But it does the job, the dimensions were there in front of me, and there weren't any other options. I look at it as just an opportunity to store more stuff under it!
