This is the ONE to get..if you need a top notch electric skillet look no further!
I actually purchased this with the intent to give it as a Christmas present to my daughter in law... but when I asked my Son if she had one He stated No.. she doesn't have one but she has this grill/griddle and we have this cast iron griddle. I was used to being shut down by one or both and I simply said 'okay'. Well I decided to just keep it myself and hope for the best. Well guess what..I pulled it out and first thing I noticed was the quality of this skillet. The body, lid, cord..all very nice quality and well made. Later on I threw in a couple pork tenderloins just to give it a TEST run. Let me tell you that puppy heated up in no time allowing me to brown the pork loin add liquid and let cook. The food came out delicious and tender. All I have to say is WOW. It cooks evenly.. the lid has a vent hole (some people complain about vent hole not realizing that is exactly what keeps it from running or boiling over).. nice glass lid.. well made. Use common sense such as no abrasive scrubbers or cleaners on body or lid. Use potholder or towel when handling lid..hot water can gather at the metal around the glass and burn you. Its like that though for any lid. Top rack ONLY dishwasher safe. Don't think it is too big.. it's not.. it's absolutely perfect for frying, steaming, roasting, sauteing and stir fry. I'm so glad I wound up keeping it for myself. Should last for many years to come. Merry Christmas to me!

Very versatile, and its way more useful than I've ever known. Non stick surface is excellent.
Want a great fryer, grill, slow cooker? This one will do it all and it is nice and large for our family meals. My mom and grandmother use to use these when I was a kid. Never realized how useful they were until I became an adult and payed attention to them and their cooking processes. Just like them, we use this almost daily. It's non stick surface, dishwasher safe cleaning and the nice temperature control are just a few of the great benefits. Lid also has a pressure relief/thermometer hole. Almost forgot to mention the notch in the upper left corner that allows you to drain grease easily without making a mess.

Significant design improvements make this an excellent choice
Initial review after 3 weeks. May well change later as SO MANY iterations of electric skillets have disappointed me in the last two years.Upon unboxing I was immediately impressed that the manufacturer of this unit has addressed two of the major design problems I have experienced with other skillets. Namely 1) heating element design and 2) thermostatic control stability.1) Every electric skillet I have purchased in the last 10 years has had the same design flaw. The all had a single loop heating element. This poor design basically guarantees uneven heating,. It also contributes to "burn-in", wherein the skillet surface loses it's non-stick surface over the heating element. This unit adopted a two loop design (see photo) which improves heat distribution across the full surface and reduces the need to increase the temp to cook foods.2) Every electric skillet I have purchased in the 10 years has been replaced because of the same design flaw. (In the most recent purchase preceding this one, only about 6 weeks) The thermostatic control gets so loose in the holder that it fails to connect to the heating element and the skillet simply does not work. One this unit, however, the holder is MUCH tighter. Which might have presented a problem because it makes it more difficult to extract when it is time to clean the unit. The manufacturer address that problem handily by adding an "extraction lever" (my term) which actually makes it easier than with the old "loose" design. (see photos)In use, I have found this unit to heat evenly and maintain a relatively standard temperature. My only complaint is that the cook surface is "dimpled" instead of smooth. I'm getting used to it, but I fear, as the non-stick surface wears off (which, sadly, it undoubtedly will), it may become difficult to extract food without "scrambling" it. (again, see photos)

CONVENIENT and VERSITILE
The perfect skillet for those of us who are serious about meal preparation but who are still stuck in a "College Dorm Student" and/or "Bachelor Pad" minimalist mindset. Wide enough to prepare several varieties of items together at the same time without necessarily having to resort to any additional cooking appliances, and Deep enough to handle a variety of soup/stew/casserole, etc. creations -- Frying, Griddling, Boiling, it's got you covered! ~ And it's relatively SPACE-SAVING!The "rectangular" shape means not only more versatile cooking space, but also ensures a more even heating than what you'd get from a typical "square" electric frypan (which generally use a "circular" heating element, which is always guaranteed to leave "cold spots") -- and the way the heating element in this unit configured (what they refer to as an "M-configuration") guarantees one of the best evenly distributed heated surfaces you can get with these devices.Add on top of that a "glass" lid with a venting hole, and the only thing you may think of that might've been a trade-off will be during those times when you would've appreciated having a "domed" lid instead. The "pouring notch" is the only inclusion which seems like a welcome addition but is in reality more trouble than it's actually worth: to have made this feature truly effective, it should've been designed with a "protruding lip" to aid in giving a more precision & controlled pouring flow -- just use the typical "pour out at the corner" method if you're not fond of mopping up spilled contents after the fact.Despite its being heavy and sturdy, there are still a couple of areas of concern: One being that the "Non-Stick" surface will gradually lose its effectiveness, which I suppose is to be expected with all of such items, but any "peeling" (perhaps due to the "pitted" surface design?) will not be readily noticeable; and Secondly, DON'T DROP THIS THING!!! ...as the plastic handles are of the variety which WILL break upon impact!Overall however, this was the best non-stick electric frypan purchase within a reasonable price range I'd ever made in all of my years of flying solo... so much so that this review is being provided on what was actually my SECOND purchase of this identical item! (see note above re: "fragile plastic handles")Consider this an ENDORSEMENT.
