I bought this to feed a feral cat that has been roaming the neighbourhood. It looks like it has been through a lot! This feeder not only prevents food and water from freezing but keeps it lukewarm. I can only imagine how comforting that must be for a cat living outside in this weather. The cat has been coming around for a few days, and ate here for the first time overnight. I'm hoping to eventually trap it, have it fixed, and give it a home (if it lets me). I already have two cats I rescued from the streets 3 and 4 years ago. If I get this one, does that mean I'll be a crazy cat lady? I'm good with that! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these feeders. It keeps the perfect temperature, and it's easy to clean. Review: Keeps the food at a warm, but not hot, temperature. I add a small amount of water at the bottom of the bowls to keep food from drying out. If it is really cold outside, sometimes the top of the food looks a little freezer burned, but food is still moist underneath. I do wish they had an option to buy a second set of the stainless steel bowls. It would make it easier to change out the food and wash the bowls.

This product so far has worked out great. Last night the temp was 14 F and never froze. The temp never gets to hot or cold but the water at 14 will be tap cool (expected). Otherwise in 20-30s will be luke-warm to warm and never hot which is good thing. The water in dry cold weather does evaporate slowly but just add a tiny bit of water when feeding (once a day if that). Sometimes goes few days with no water needed. Again expected when warm water and cold dry air. So far very happy and no problem with the feral cat chewing on anything. In fact cat just sits and drinks out of both bowls and seems very happy. FYI. I bought one of those rubber heated tread mats (just bought one tread,,,a bit pricey but worth) and put in under make shift small tent and box. The cat loves it in the 30 below temps staying in it for hours. It even helped its stiff rear that no longer seems to be a problem.

It heats to the average temperature of a human's body. We have just started using it in November when the temperature drops below freezing overnight in northern Canada. Our outdoor cat has left an empty dish by the morning. So far, it is working out very well. If it can't handle -25ºC to -35ºC, later in our winter, I'll let you all know.

I have a feral cat that I have been feeding for years. Every winter is a stressful time for me because if I miss his coming and going the food and water freezes and he doesn't eat (not to mention the waste of constantly throwing out frozen food). My husband found this bowl and I bought it. The other night the temperature up here in Canada went down to -28 degrees celcius (-18F) and the food stayed soft and the water never froze. It was amazing! My car battery froze but the water bowl didn't. I found that the food feels cool and the water is definitly cold but neither froze. I was concerned that maybe he wouldn't like eating out of the small stainless steel bowl (I feed him on plates) but he doesn't seem to mind. I can see him drink often on camera and am happy that fresh water is always available. There is a smell of plastic but outside in the fresh air it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I have noticed several other neighbourhood cats stopping by for a nibble now and then and none of them seem bothered by the set-up or the smell. I have mine set up on a covered porch which is open on three sides. It has a grounded plug that I connect to a grounded extension cord that I have set up to hang from the wall rather than sit on the ground. The connection have been sheltered from the weather. I love it and the cats seem to love it. I highly recommend this bowl.
