Christians Must Read
The Chronicle of the Kings series is an absolute must-read, and books 4 (Faith of My Fathers) and 5 (Among the Gods) are no exception! Both novels dive deep into powerful themes of faith, destiny, and the complexities of leadership. The characters are richly developed, and the plot twists keep you on the edge of your seat. The world-building is incredible, and the historical context makes it all the more immersive. These books are a thrilling continuation of an epic series—highly recommend for fans of historical fiction and fantasy!

Biblical Fiction at its best!
I loved the whole Chronicles of the Kings series, which is best read in sequence. The character development is rich, and it's rare that I get so captivated by a book that I stay up way too late reading, but each book of the series did that for me. The author kept to the confines of scripture well, and her use of it fell smoothly into the plot line, It wasn't preachy, but very effective. I had often wondered how King Manasseh had turned out so wicked with such a godly father. This book presents a very plausible scenario, with a great warning for today. An insecure, immature leader without a sound knowledge of scripture can readily fall under the influence of a wicked man who can quote scripture and twist it in such a way that it says the opposite of what God intended. My skin crawled at Zerah's use of God's Word, and how easily deceived Manasseh was by it. It was a powerful message to be in God's Word and alert for those who may use it to deceive, and the slippery slope of deception. There is also a strong theme of God's incredible grace and forgiveness, and the consequences of unforgiveness. A great series I am sure to reread again and again.

The Bible comes to life
I loved this book. I started the series when I found "Gods & Kings", the first book of the Chronicles of the Kings, on Pixel of Ink.The story drew me in, and I learned more about the characters in the Bible who were just quickly mentioned. By Book 2, I began to think of them as friends. In this last book, King Masseneh of Judah embraces idols instead of the One True God, and he crushed anyone who opposed his way of thinking - he sawed the prophet Isaiah in half! Where his father ruled Judah by fairness, Masseneh ruled by fear. I spent most of the time reading about him and wanting to throw my Nook across the room in anger.I loved the fact that Joshua and a small contingent moved to Egypt to continue to worship in peace. The Hebrews had worked hard to leave Egypt in the Old Testament, and some had to return because Judah was just too terrible of a place under King Masseneh.Beautiful writing, meticulous research and vivid mental pictures make this series a real winner. I was sorry to see it end.

Lots of conjecture, but a pretty good read.
I read this whole series, trying to get a better feel for the timeline and interaction of which kings with which prophets of the Old Testament. There are a lot of invented conversations and actions, but it follows what we do know from Scripture to be true. As long as you don't have a problem separating the two, these books are a good way to get a feel for what life was like during that time and get a better handle on biblical history. If more books are added to the series, I will definitely keep reading them.

An Amazing Series
These books (Chronicles of the Kings) are so well written I couldn’t put them down. I have always been fascinated by the history of Judah in the final years before their captivity, but there are some amazing and true details that are included here, I learned a lot!

A beautiful Story of forgiveness and redemption
Loved this story and its characters. English is not my first language so I will not write a comprehensive review, but I encourage everyone to read this series “ Chronicles of the Kings” . After reading the books of 1st and 2nd Kings, and the 1st and 2nd Chronicles in the Bible I wondered how could the sons of faithful followers of God deviate so much from the faith of their fathers. This series showed one of the ways this might have happened.

Outstanding Author and story!
I absolutely loved these books, all five of them. I had to get the other four books after reading her first on Chronicles of the Kings. Intrigue, historical, right on the mark, scriptural referencing, and enlightening. Lynn Austin has a way of putting you into the story, you are alive and experience what she is writing about. I love the Old Testament stories, but this series has brought the OT to a new level for me. I read the scriptures quoted in the books and you can see the story more fully. I actually got to where I wanted to go back and read Isaiah again. I am saving up so I can get her other books of this genre. Lynn Austin is a winner. Her books, Chronicles of the Kings, are outstanding. I added them to my favorites so I will be sure and read them again and again.
