in the light of what perfected sexuality in heaven might look like, ethical sexuality on earth looks like
Comprehensive, well sourced, broad in scope, this book is the place to start for anyone interested in studying the Christian understanding of sexuality or of the resurrection. While scholarly in subject matter, it’s very readable. It consists of an extensive survey of classical Christian views of the incarnation, sexuality included, and traditional ideas of heaven or the life to come. These historical views are set in dialogue with current scholarship sensitive to nuances between gender, sex, and sexuality. She concludes with ideas on what, in the light of what perfected sexuality in heaven might look like, ethical sexuality on earth looks like. Her discussions of both sexuality and heaven are well informed and wide-ranging, in contrast to much popular Christian literature. This book fills a virtually empty niche for Christians who have generally ignored or dismissed the whole idea of sex in heaven, leaving that conversation to other religions.

It provides good fodder for sermon-writing on relationships and the God-given power ...
This book invites the reader to consider sexual desire as a heavenly gift with immense earthly purposes. The author does not shy from discussing the abuses of a misplaced understanding of sexuality, but opens the way to seeing sexuality from an incarnational divine perspective. Spirit and flesh find harmony together in this book. While an academic work, it is quite accessible, and a book that can be devoured in a single day of study. It provides good fodder for sermon-writing on relationships and the God-given power of healthy sexual desire. Take this opportunity to exercise your eschatological imagination, discovering that erotic desire belongs not only on earth but also in heaven.
