Fun book probably best read our loud with large illustrations
Great story, fun illustrations. Story held my attention, but in a hot summer day my grand girls were all about the pool. They will probably like it better in the fall. The girl going into 2nd grade could probably read it in her own; I read it too the kindergartener. I enjoyed the story and the illustrations. The bus driver is a ghost; that's not mentioned. All the witches except one and all the teachers and other adults depicted in the book are caucasians, as are all the portraits on the walls. The ghostly bus driver is the only make in the entire book. Two to four sentences ( rhyming) on each page; there's a nice cadance-the book is probably meant to be read aloud. Fast delivery, perfect new paperback condition.

Charming Story for Young Aspiring Witches
My wife and I bought this book for our daughter, age 4.75, to coincide with the event of Halloween 2012. Parents and daughter all really love this book and it's been read over and over and over again. It is the story of young witches of varying ages and stripes going off to witch school where, along with learning to become better witches, they also do things common to any children's camp: make friends, go hiking (in the haunted forest), put on plays, sing, etc. The story follows the young witches along as they do their activities and attend class, and it's all in rhyme. Easy to read (again and again) and easy to listen to, it also serves as a decent early reader for our daughter to explore and find words that she knows as well as ask us about ones she doesn't.I appreciate the school-theme that reinforces our own family's emphasis on education: After all, witches need to learn to. I especially like that in flying-broom class the budding witches (all girls) are learning mathematics and physics, a helpful reference to hard science that I've found lacking in so many children's readers. There are also references to potion-making (chemistry?) and the arts. I also like that something that is otherwise commonly portrayed as frightening - hiking in a dark and haunted forest - is shown to be rather fun and adventuresome. Indeed, all the better if the hike is accompanied by thunder and lightning. As a father trying to bring up his daughter to be appropriately fearless, smart, and sensible, I feel this book sends decent messages. It's all in fun, of course, and the witch theme is carried throughout. Potentially scary themes and locales are treated softly and with humor and shown to be unthreatening. The story matches well with the art, which is colorful, interesting, and attractive. We continue to enjoy it and can recommend it.

Learning Experience
Purchased for my grandsons to keep the tradition going! I have been buying books for every major and some minor holidays for Zachary and Nicholas since they were born. We read them when I babysit and then they become favorites to be read before and during the holidays and beyond. They look forward to it and so do I. They loved hearing how witches go to school and the tasks they must master and comparing it to what they are taught at their school.

Perfect Halloween Gift!
This adorable book was a gift for my 5-year-old last Halloween. She absolutely loves it and wants me to read it to her all the time. The story is very entertaining (makes us giggle) and the illustrations are so cute. Great book!

Daughter loves it; that's all that matters
My daughter loves this book; when it arrived she had me read it to her for four nights in a row! It's well drawn and well written, though the story seems to cover an extended period of time (a school year) in a flash. It bothers me, but my daughter doesn't seem to mind, despite her questioning it.

witch school
Bought this to send to my granddaughter - she is convinced I am a witch and that her mum is a witch in training - so I told her quite a while ago she needed to go to witch school before she can become one so this gave her a nice start! She loves it (age 6)
