Fine Ink, Just Not Blue Enough For My Needs
This is a dark, almost navy blue. If you like that, it's a nice, fine ink. For my purposes it was too dark. Returned.

It's genuine Cross ink. Outrageous pricing
If you're crazy enough to still use a fountain pen, then you realize how limited you are with refilling your device. For genuine Cross on Amazon, the choice was a card of 6 refills for around $12-13 or to purchase the liquid and fill your own. The bottle was around $16, which is a whole lot better than the cartridges, but in my mind, still very expensive. This just fits in line with everything else being sold today at unreasonable prices, for absolutely no justified reason. The ink should last a very long time and the bottle is nice enough to keep on a desk (just don't drop it)

Good color and well packed.
This is an excellent green, neither too dark nor too light, just right. The packing is foolproof and the handling by Amazon was superb in a "Handle with Care" packet, delivered with care.

Very Beautiful Vibrant Colour
It is very beautiful violet fountain pen ink. Text looks gorgeus when writing with it, great flow and dries well, doesn’t fade after it’s dried. It did come with the lid so tight, I first thought there is kind of a secret for Cross Ink lids one needs to know to open it. But it is just a tight lid, which I think is good, prevents from ink being spilled during transportation, I mean who knows how it’s being treated while being transported, I did receive liquids in past that had lids broken because of irresponsible handling. I would definately recommend this ink to those who want beatiful purple, you will not hesitate it. Great choice and worth the money.

Perfect ink flow
Pro:The flow characteristic of this ink is excellent. I've tried Sheaffer Skrip (it used to skip!), Waterman Serenity blue, Private Reserve American Blue, Pelikan 4001 and Parker Quink. Of all these, I feel that this ink has the best flow characteristics.Con:There is some amount of feathering and bleedthrough when we use Cross medium or fine nibs with this ink on office paper. I guess that's all we can expect in those but hey, you can improve that. The bigger con is that it comes in a very dumb box. Though the bottle is gorgeous and is an excellent ornament on the desk, the plastic outer packaging sucks and is worth a toss straight to trash. I have reduced a star on the presentation for that.I would have loved this ink more if it looked as true-to-blue as Private Reserve American Blue with the kind of flow characteristics that this ink has (PR tends to skip occasionally, maybe since it is such a saturated ink?) The ink in the Cross cartridges and the ink in the blue ballpoint medium refills have a better saturation than this ink. Considering that this is still better than Waterman Serenity, even though both are in a similar price point, I would rate this ink higher.

How I opened the bottle
I purchased the violet bottled ink and like other reviewers, could not get the cap to budge. After using several suggestions offered on several fountain pen forums I ended up using a vise and vise-grips to get the cap off intact without spilling the ink. I used rubber grips so as not to damage the bottle or cap. The ink is a beautiful shade of violet and even has a bit of sheen on Tomoe River paper. I have not had issues with viscosity or clogging with this ink.

A thick, smooth ink with nice bottle
The media could not be loaded. I bought the Blue/Black ink bottle and overall it is a good product. The color is the one I want. And it flows smoothly. The only thing is that it is feathering when I write on normal notebook papers and printer papers. I'm practicing handwriting, so this problem affects me a lot. Maybe it's the problem of the papers and I will try higher quality papers. But it would be better if the ink could be improved.

This ink is so smooth!
I bought a Cross Century II fountain pen recently, and it came with two cartridges. I used those first, and just like other review indicate, those cartridges leak (not horribly, but definitely often). I just switched to my converter cartridge (which was really easy to use) and this ink, and it writes so smooth! I am not leaking ink and I don't have the problem of overflow like I did with the pre-filled cartridges. Great ink for the price. It does not clean up easily, though. Be careful of spilling this stuff.

Bottle issues?
I've been using a Cross fountain pen and inks for many years. I agree with all the five star comments on the ink itself. Don't hesitate.Bottle opening. I have a strong grip, but yes, the lid IS tight. This is the price to be paid in making certain no ink is lost in transit (and the triple layer packaging is superb). Hold the bottle firmly on some kitchen paper (in case!!) on a flat surface with second hand. Grip the lid and quickly twist it anti-clockwise with stronger hand. You may have to do this a couple of times.Tip - don't screw the lid all the way back on. The line on the lid does not need to be "parallel" with the bottle. About 45 degrees will keep the ink safe and easy to open next time (this will make sense in practice).

Brilliant ink – irritating bottle
This ink is my favourite. I like the colour, how quickly it dries, and it’s archival. Not much else to say there definitely five stars for the ink.So why 3 stars? The bottle is terrible! I can’t believe how difficult it can be to open!!You’d think with the square lid you’d be able to get enough grip but you still can’t get enough. The first bottle I got of this I managed to break [the same as another reviewer’s photo] because I thought that it was so difficult to twist that maybe it pops off. (ink went everywhere but most of it thankfully went on my clothes rather than the carpet)Received good customer service and got a refund without having to return the broken bottle when I explained what happened.Hot water then a tea-towel and all your strength are needed to open the bottle – and not only the first time. If you close it reasonably tight in a couple of weeks you’ll find yourself in the same situation.I ended up using some grease around the thread so now I don’t have such an issue but I really don’t understand how it can be so difficult!

tight top
I had to wait until my ink cartridge had run out before transferring to bottled ink. This bottle was bought in readiness for it. Alas, I have come to use it and cannot get the top off! Even with top-opening aids and my son's superhuman strength the top will not budge!! It will have to stand on my desk as a constant reminder as the return date has passed. Pity, as I love the pen.

Stiff top
It's a jar of A T Cross ink so on that score, it is as expected. However, I did note that some reviewers mentioned great difficulty in unscrewing the top on first use. This turned out to be true for me too. However, if you warm the top with a hairdryer for 60 seconds on high heat, being careful to rotate the jar as you heat it, the top will loosen enough for you to be able to unscrew it by hand. A couple of things to note is that the jar isn't sealed when it arrives, so be careful when removing the lid. Also, when you screw the top back in place after use, don't tighten it so that the flat edge of the top is level with the front of the jar, otherwise you'll need to use the hairdryer every time you open it.

The Ink is good, the Bottle design is terrible
The Ink is great Quality but the bottle is designed for aesthetics not practicality. The Lid becomes jammed due to how the top screws on if any ink gets into a grove. The Square lid really hurts your hand opening the matter and if you have a smaller hand it's even worse. Our bottle ended up smashing and half of the bottle going everywhere due to the lid being so glued on by the dried ink. Look at getting a better designed bottle or emptying into a proper ink well.
