NOW Foods Supplements, Methyl B-12 (Methylcobalamin) 10,000 mcg, Nervous System Health*, 60 Lozenges

The media could not be loaded. THE REVIEW:I especially like this product and dosage because 10,000 mcg gives me "a hit" of B12 for my liver to store up to be used later. That means I don't need to take this every day, which is useful if you're like me and forget to take daily supplements. Another reason why I like this is that it does not have folic acid included. Some B12 supplements also add folic acid. Normally you would think this is good, but folic acid (a synthetic form) is not folate (a natural form found in foods and some supplements). Folic acid needs to be converted to folate by the body and as we age, that process slows thereby possible building up too much folic acid in the body. I already supplement with folate, so I don't need any extra folic acid. I highly recommend this product for people who need to raise their levels of B12 in the body.I have read that some people would prefer the sublingual lozenge to dissolve faster. It is actually a good thing if the lozenge dissolves slower. The longer the lozenge can stay under the tongue, the better. That's because the blood vessels under your tongue can only absorb so much of the B-12 within a certain time-frame. Because this lozenge contains 10,000 mcg of B-12, it is even more important that the lozenge dissolves slowly. Just remember, the longer you can keep the lozenge under your tongue, the more B-12 will be absorbed through the blood vessels under your tongue. It might be more of a pain to let the lozenge sit under your tongue, but think of it this way - which would be more uncomfortable, having the lozenge under your tongue or sitting in a doctor's office for a couple of hours while you wait to get a B-12 injection?FORMS OF B12:There are different forms of B12. Hydroxocobalamin is found in meat products. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form added to foods or taken as a supplement. Adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin are two forms used in sublingual supplementation. All forms need to be converted by the liver to methylcobalamin, which is why supplementing with methylcobalamin has become popular. The reason you see methylcobalamin supplemented sublingual versus pill form has to do with it not being as stable when exposed to stomach acids unlike hydroxocobalamin and cyanocobalamin (its why these forms are better to be consumed in foods).B12 DEFICIENCY:There are a couple of reason why a person can become deficient in B12. Some Foods containing B12 are sardines (338%), salmon (236%), tuna (111%), cod (109%), beef (60%), yogurt (38%) and milk (23%). Deficiency can arise if you do not eat enough of these foods. Vegans and vegetarians typically do not eat these foods, which makes them especially susceptible to B12 deficiency.Another, more unknown reason, to become deficient lies in the complexity of how B12 is absorbed into the body. B12 must first be combined with Intrinsic Factor in the stomach. It then is absorbed at the end of the small intestine (the ileum). If these processes are not functioning properly, then even though a person can consume foods containing B12, the vitamin might pass through the digestive tract without being absorbed. Yet, a third reason has to do with the liver storing large amounts of B12. If the liver fails to store B12 properly, then dietary lapses in consuming B12 could cause a temporary deficiency.THE COMPANY:I am especially partial to buying Now Foods supplements. The company has excellent quality standards for the price. The reason I like Now Foods has to do with the perfect balance between quality and price. I consider myself a nutritionist and have had experience selling nutritional supplements from many companies, so I have some knowledge of comparison between the companies and products. Even with that said, I don't consider myself a "loyal" customer of Now Foods. That's because I buy a product, not a company. Each product has to earn my trust as being the best product. Most times that product comes from Now Foods, but sometimes not, and if Now Foods isn't the best for a particular product, I have no problem in saying so.A LITTLE ABOUT ME:As I got older and my body started aching, I became heavily involved in nutrition, which was over 10 years ago. I absolutely love it 🥰. It is easy to take and gave me tons more of energy without bad sides effects for me. I will buy again for sure.

If for any reason you require a super high, megadose of vitamin methyl B12 these are your supplements. I tried Jarrow’s methyl vitamin b12 supplement and unfortunately the highest they offer is 5,000 mcg. What’s even stranger is that Jarrow’s b12 lozenges are bigger in size. Now Foods 10,000 lozenges are smaller in size and pack a higher dosage than any other methyl vitamin b12 supplement out there. I feel the difference when taking these. There is no question in my mind that these are better absorbed, as only a fraction of vitamin b12 is absorbed via sublingual supplementation, so it makes sense that the higher dosage is the way to go.The flavor of the lozenges taste of sweet cheery and dissolve fairly quickly once placed under the tongue. The only criticism would be the way the supplement turns my saliva into a dark, almost blood like consistency. This can be off putting if you happen to spit for whatever reason or smile when the red dye is still fresh on your teeth (your lips will turn red if you have to lick them). If you are debating which methyl vitamin b12 supplement to get, these are the ones, you will not regret it.

This a great way to get in methylated B-12. It's easy to take and doesn't taste terrible. I like that it's the broken down form as that's something my body has a hard time doing on its own.

The product is okay but you sent me the wrong product. I asked for Now B12 1000, I think, and you sent me Now B12 10,000. I won’t return. Other than that the product was okay

Having the amount of 1 gram(10,000mcg) is very convenient along with the fact that I believe the ingredients are pure And like other tabs these do not fall apart easily in They are contained during shipping or otherwise i’m assuming this may be the plus side of it not being able to be dissolving under the tongue as easy as others which primarily fall apart in the container sometimes receiving half powder and a half tabs depending on shipment in some if you use the white cotton that comes with them you could probably have a really great B 12 tea :) :) ! The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is container is not convenient,Extremely oversized, Price for Quantity Is High especially if Nutritional needs, like myself are 2-3gm (20-30000 mcgs) Daily with additional 5000 mcg as needed . I Will be happy to see More convenient container that Closes securely with larger quantities at a reasonable price
