What size should i order if i have 42 inch waist?

I have a 42-inch waist, also. The fit is exactly 42. It is comfortable but has no extra waist room. Snug but comfortable body fit. If you like extra space, you might try the XXL, but I think it will be loose. These are excellent shorts, and I like them. I am active on our farm and bend and stop often. The tops will roll down a little, but I have not felt uncomfortable.

What size to order for a 30 inch waist?

Probably the largest they have, my hubby is around 220 Lb & 5'10 got Xxl just for comfort although the xl fit well . Get the largest they have just for comfort
