Very nice "starter" top for new top spinning hobbyist
My first purchase of a more precision spinning top, I was reluctant to spend too much for a top so I opted for this Shadow Spin top and am very pleased with its performance. Also purchasing a 75mm, 20cm focal length, double concave lens to use as a spinning stage, it was upon that stage that I obtained my best spin time yet, of 190 seconds. I define the spin as over when the top topples over enough that the edge of the disk touches the surface of the stage and creates a distinct buzzing sound. Exploring other spinning stages, I also used a 5-inch, 3X magnifying mirror of the bath mirror variety (i.e., relatively inexpensive) and the 7-inch mirror platform that was provided with a Toysmith Euler's Disk. The first time I used the latter, I obtained a 3-minute spin that I have yet to duplicate again on that stage. Meanwhile, the concave lens rarely found me getting a spin time greater than 140 seconds, so I was beginning to think the Euler's Disk mirror platform was a more optimum surface for this particular top. But, I've now learned otherwise as I continue to improve upon my spin-starting skills. The glass lens in combination with this small top makes for a very compact, pocketable EDC top if you're so inclined to carry one. I do recommend purchase of this top for those just beginning to explore how yes, a spinning top can indeed be intriguing to watch. It does seem hard to justify spending much more than $25 for a top, but think I can see the allure of this hobby. If I buy a second top, I'll likely go for the Forever Spin as the next least costly while at the same time providing me with a larger top and greater variety of materials to choose from..One should expect to easily achieve 2-minute spins with this top, and longer as you get familiar with the best technique for launching a spin. Is a 4-minute spin possible? Maybe...never say never!

Good quality
It’s kinda hard to screw up, I think. It spins evenly and long enough on a hard surface.

Great Top!
The ShadowSpin Dark Spinning top exceeded all my expectations. The top came very quickly, and was wrapped in thin foam, in a bubble envelope. Needless to say it arrived in perfect condition. The top feels and looks great with a matte finish on the top for better grip while spinning, and a polished base for long spin times. My very first spin on just a wooden table lasted over a minute! I primarily spin on a small mirror at my desk and regularly see spin times of 90-120 seconds. If you're looking for a good quality and relatively cheap spinner this is the top for you.

Lots of fun for quick work breaks or in need of a distraction.
Great weight and shape to it. I’ve had fun getting my spins down and started timing them. It can easily go for over a minute!

Decent top, but small
Decent top...nice that its real steel, so it doesn't get dinged up if it hits a hard surface like tile or concete, but its about 30% smaller than a forever spin top. Easy to spin and is fairly balanced. Paint gives good texture to get it going really fast. Upside down spins possible but hard, the top of the handle is pretty narrow.

Love this top
Love this top. It has a really nice heft to it and feels good in your pocket. The surface is lightly textured and is easy to spin for a long time. Shipping was quick too.
