***IMO, you must buy the right mask for your head-size for this, or any other mask-holder, to work.***Many "one-size fits all" masks are too small for the average adult head. Look for masks that specifically state they are a larger size if that's what you need. That alone, was a game changer for me.I wear a mask on aircraft many times a month and this piece makes it soooo much more comfortable.

When the pandemic started, my ears got REALLY sore, cracked and bleeding, from wearing masks. So, I took a "blank" patient ID band, cut off the "name" part, and attached paper clips to the remaining prepunched "hole" ends. This worked pretty good as far as being expedient, but the paper clips would sometimes dig in to the sides of my neck. The next thing I tried was "two sided" velcro like you use to "bundle" wires. That also worked, but the material was a bit too stiff, and it was hard to get "unstuck" to change masks over the course of the day. THIS one is "just right" and I'm glad to have a few of them.
