- Lionel Hogwarts Express LionChief 5.0 Electric O Gauge Train Set with Bluetooth & Remote

I REALLY love this train. I bought it intending to check it out and then buy one for each of my three kids families that have kids if I loved it. I had to return it because all three families said their kids would rather have a cheaper version that they could play with at their ages. (Four and under.) This one is the kind of train that you buy for a display and you make your kids just look at but not play with for the price point. So well made and worth it and I highly recommend it. I may go back and buy one for myself for them to look at at grandma's house. It's the perfect scale IMO. I also have the larger G scale that we still have from when my kids were little but this O scale is better for creating a village effect and my love for this train had me spending an entire vacation plotting village purchases on Amazon😂😂 My husband didn't complain till after the vacation was over or I would have stopped earlier 😂😂 BUY IT!!

This train set did not disappoint! The engine and tender are metal while the cars are plastic which is standard for lionel trains so the heavy engine can easily pull the lighter cars. The engine and cars have great detail, and the cars light up. The train sets up very quickly and is easy to use. The lights, sounds, and smoke are really great and making running the train a lot of fun. I tried the Bluetooth app on my phone and it works well, but the remote works the same so you don’t need the Bluetooth if you don’t want to use it. The only downside is if you have the remote off but the track plugged in it makes a beeping noise to indicate it is trying to connect the Bluetooth. I haven’t checked the instructions to see if this can be turned off as it is a bit of annoying sound. The track in the set is a good size (curves to make a 3’ circle and 4 straight pieces), but I got it with 4 extra straight pieces to make sure it could go around the Christmas tree easily.

Our train arrived exactly as it was detailed on the website, and it runs perfectly. A few quick things of note that people should be aware of. 1) The smoker is turned on by default, on the train section you'll want to turn it off first before use if you are not loading it with smoke fluid before it's first use. This will keep the smoker from getting damaged. The switch is hidden where the conductor would be if it was a real train... It is a little hard to see at first. 2) Some of the car connector sections can be a bit sticky, so it might be difficult to hook your train together... don't worry, it is just stubborn. Good news is it holds them together well, you just need to get them together in the first place. 3) If you do not unplug the tracks, and turn the remote off, it'll make a beeping noise. Don't forget to unplug the track before turning it off. Otherwise it is a lovely train set, and a lot of fun to have running around the tree.

This Harry Potter train set by Lionel is super nice. I'm not a train buff so I will leave all the technical stuff to the experts and just comment on my set up experience. I'm happy to say my shipment arrived without any visible signs of damage and my out of the box experience was completely trouble free. Everything went together smoothly and my train was happily chuff chuffing along in almost no time at all. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how very nice the train engine is. It is a beautifully detailed high quality piece that pulls the 4 included cars with ease. The engine sound effects are great! The supplied controller is a nice size and weight and it makes its Bluetooth pairing with the engine perfectly every time I turn it on. If you're a Potter fan and you are looking for a quality themed Lionel train set then you should take a look at Hogwarts Express. You'll be glad you did.

I love this Hogwarts Train Set. Now it hasn't been an easy purchase. First one was defective. Amazon facilitated an quick return and replacement. Great derail and a wonderful addition to my collection. Working on a Harry Potter platform!

Disappointed when my Hogwarts Express arrived with a broken part. Amazon recommend I contact Lionel directly which I did. Lionel immediately sent out a replacement part my train works perfectly. Cannot wait to see grandsons expressions when they arrive for Christmas with the train chugging around the tree! They just started reading Harry. Thank you Amazon and Lionel for be so responsive and easy to work with.

very very low quality product. disappointed with Lionel. Train has a mind of its own and cannot be controlled. super loud as well. was looking for something to go around the Christmas tree. kids are super disappointed. What is even worse is the way Amazon is handling the return. beware, Amazon for what ever reason wants me to pay international shipping on this item. will think twice before ordering a bigger ticket item like this from Amazon.

Sigh.... It's a beautiful train. Works perfectly on a flat wooden surface. On carpet not so much. As the tracks may not get power in some areas,because of the carpet maybe uneven or get more use as in foot traffic than other places. Crucial detail is it needs a flat surface to run properly. Wooden floors works best.

Me gustó mucho el tren. Es un poco ruidoso pero está increíble para fans de HP. Altamente recomendable! Y como recomendación, luce mucho más adquiriendo pista adicional. Solo tuve un detalle con una parte que supuestamente venía incluida, de acuerdo al instructivo, pero no era así. Escribí a la empresa y nunca recibí respuesta. el departamento de Servicio al Cliente de Amazon fue muy amable y me ayudó con esto, pero la empresa de Lionel... fatal... La información contenida en el instructivo es muy limitada pero podrá armar el tren sin problemas, solo mucho cuidado con el manejo del tren ya que sí está un poco delicado. La App para manejar el tren vía teléfono está sencilla pero funciona muy bien! Fue una excelente idea ponerle foquitos a la pista y que el tren paseara alrededor de todos los regalos de Navidad!

My first order come with open box, looking like was return before and truth enough didn't work as it should, after I got new set in original and unopen box train works just fine. Overall happy with the product and would recommend

I have been waiting to buy this Lionel Hogwarts train set for so long. I am in Australia and it was only ever available in America. When I saw it on Amazon and for a huge discount to be delivered to Australia I couldn’t help myself. I also got the additional dementor carriage. It is incredibly well made and I love all the sound effects. The steam out of the train is adorable too. I can’t wait to put it under my Christmas tree this year.
