Great collection
This is a very good collection of the first few comics in WoS and includes a few extras as well. DO NOT BUY if you don't like B+W. This is NOT in color.

Kravens LAST HUNT
all you need to know for this volume is that one of the greatest story lines in spider man history is in this. the story of how lower a-list villain Kraven the the hunter finnaly goes mad in his attempt to capture and "replace" (that was a new one) spider man. it has one of the best emotional pay offs in the history of web of spiderman. which is an easy thing considering the only thing that the comic is known for is this story and introducing Venom. well worth the buy. Warning, this book is so reasonably priced because its reprints are in B+W. this would be a $50 book easy if it was in color.

Terrorism, copycats and Kraven's Last Hunt
One of the best Essentials books I have read recently featuring tales from way back in 1986 and 1987. There are some major upheavals in Peter Parker's life at this time, most of those take place in the other two titles but the effects are felt throughout this volume. It starts off pretty slow with a brief appearance by Solo and the minor threat of Humbug. The second tale sees Peter and ace reporter Joy Mercado heading off to London and Northern Ireland where their investigation into Roxxon Industries leads them to a plot to assassinate Margaret Thatcher and foiling a terrorist attack in Belfast.Back in New York another low level nuisance, Slyde, appears before an eventful trip to Atlantic City where The Vulture is causing mayhem, until stopped by Hobgoblin and The Rose (the relationship between those two leads to tragedy for one main supporting character at a time Peter and Mary Jane should be enjoying life).Throw in an alien attack, Spidey being poisoned, a copycat Spider-Man, a vicious Headhunter, a funeral, Wolverine as well as The Kingpin and the end of the present Hobgoblin saga. The real highlight is the 6 issue Kraven's Last Hunt that spanned two issues of each of the 3 Spider-Man titles and all are collected here. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest stories produced by Marvel as Kraven the Hunter is determined to put end the shame he felt as being the greatest hunter of all yet having been soundly beaten by Spider-Man at every turn. The tale delves into the depths of madness and despair as Kraven fights his inner demons whilst the mutated cannibalistic killer Vermin roams the sewers and streets of New York. If you don't know the ending it will catch you way off guard although it is a fitting end to thie story for a foe who has always had a strong, if often twisted, sense of honour.By coincidence I subscribed to The Marvel Graphic Novel collection and Kraven's Last Hunt was included in the last delivery so I was able to read it in full colour which added extra Oomph to the tale.

Awesome
These Marvel Essential collections are all really well made, and this is no exception. Being a Spidey nut like myself, this is a must have in the collection.

These Spidey stories were awesome.
The quality of the comic book compilation was next to perfect. The stories of Spidey in the 1980's were great. Loved the Black costume storyline.
