Mooncakes

Just the Mid Autumn book I am looking for. It covers the festive activities, the lore (the three main ones), and a sweet, peaceful concept of gathering. Best of the three children’s book I got for this holiday. It was a lovely gift to give.

This story is beautifully written. This sweet family celebrates Mid Autumn Festival at home with mooncakes and tea at home in their backyard-nothing extravagant and exactly what we do at our house so our daughters really relate to this story. 3 folktales/legends are woven in as well. My children are a bit young to understand the concepts of “bad men” or “chopping a tree or dying” however I just change the words right now and eventually it will be appropriate for them to learn the accurate tales. This is a must have to celebrate mid autumn festival!!

I wish I recalled this better, but it's been a few weeks! But I do know I was impressed with the artwork, and especially with how the book blends together the traditions of the family and the stories they tell. Some explanation is given for holiday traditions, but not in a heavy-handed way.You can really feel the connection between the parents here, and only slightly less the parents and their daughter. As I said, I don't recall everything, but I do have an image in my head of the parents together during one of the non-story lulls.A good, newer pick to teach your class about the Moon Festival.

This is a beautiful book with a wonderful story.

The art is beautiful which makes this book worth getting.
