Does the lid screw on?

Good morning, Mindy. The lid to the Stainless Steel Snack Catcher is attached to the silicone top/flaps which screw onto the base.

Could this be used to keep fresh fruit cold?

Not for any length of time. It is only single layer stainless, so I find that it is better for dry snacks. Also, the lid is not waterproof or airtight, so it may leak.
