Update 6/12/21: I have changed my tune. After a few months of use, I regret purchasing this instead of a regular sewing machine. I can no longer sew anything because the tension is so out of whack and the bobbin jumps constantly, allowing the top thread to get caught on the bobbin and jam up the machine. For a while I just sewed with the bobbin case off and would physically hold the bobbin down with my finger, but now the tension makes it impossible to sew anything. I'm done with it, it's not worth it considering you can get a decent machine for $20-$50 more.I come from a crafty home so I'm already familiar with regular sewing machines. I decided to get this because I'm low on space and I need a light machine. It has exceeded my expectations and I wish I had gotten one sooner. I'm 4'11 and need to alter a lot of clothes and I was getting tired doing it all by hand. This bad boy has been able to sew just as well as other machines; I was able to sew through four layers of denim in one project. I wasn't sure if it would be a good purchase or a total disaster but I'm quite pleased.

After two weeks worth of use this sewing machine has just about crapped out. The tension dial does next to nothing (as I have tested this machine for the past two days with different types of thread, stitch type, and tension).I wouldn’t recommend buying this for a beginner, unless you want them to give up sewing within the timeframe above.

It is perfect gift as my daughter's birthday, she loves this cute color!!! The size is about half size of a normal sewing machine, around 4-5 pounds, looks good quality with so many accessories, that's really usuful.I tried sewing on a scrap of cotton and it is not hard, easy to sewing, lots of features, great for beginners! You can find many video tutoials on YouTube.

The machine itself is cute and does the basics that you'd expect from a sewing machine. However, mine was used and even had someone's work still in it. Unfortunately, that person had put a needle that does not go in this model, so I couldn't figure out why it kept tangling up on me. I rethreaded the spindle and the bobbin a bunch of times and was getting very frustrated. I decided to change the needle, and that's when I realized that the top of the needle that inserts into the machine was very different from the other ones that came with it, so I figure whoever returned it left their needle in the machine. Once I changed the needle, it worked. I'm not happy about receiving a used machine that clearly was not even looked over to verify that it was still okay to sell as new.

The machine arrived already with thread, only I had to do was starting to work. I did 2 pants shortening. andtaking in 1 pair of pants , it worked amazing. even on double thickness, you have to be careful to go a bit slow if you feel the needle may not go through, but with care I went through 4 folds thick..Very pleased with my little machine
