Love Hoji Cha, love loose tea -- No waste from teabags or envelopes
Tastes great. My favorite tea is hoji-cha. One bag lasts a long time -- longer than 4 boxes of individually wrapped teabags -- and less expensive, and more authentic. Considering autoship.

Just Awful!
As others have pointed out, the bag is full of small twigs, with barely a hint of tea leaves. That may contribute to the bitter taste, even when following the brewing instructions to the letter. This is not the same flavor at all that I've enjoyed at my favorite Japanese restaurants. And now I learn that I can't return it because it's classified as a food product, even though it was purchased through Prime. so beware, and buy something else!

Good taste
My manager told me about this type of tea. I don't have anything else to reference to in order to say this brand is better than another, but I'm a fan of the taste. It's not often that I find a tea that's totally drinkable without sugar. This reminds me of an oolong you get at the Asian restaurants to a certain degree. I've been having almost daily cups of this once I've hit my max on teas that I add sugar to.

Great tasting twig tea
I thoroughly enjoyed the toasty flavor of this tea. I would have given this tea 5 stars but it has so many stems and few leaves, and I feel like this should have been noted somewhere in the description. I think this should have been labeled a roasted kukicha (kuki hoji cha). If you don't look at the photo closely you might think those are twisted leaves often seen in whole leaf teas, but it is mostly stems with a few leaf pieces. If you are counting on this to ensure "no matter how hard you partied the night before you will make that morning meeting" like it says on the page, you should probably know that twig teas like this are very low in caffeine. I'm glad this estate dedicated to environmental and economic sustainability is branching out stylistically and using some of their waste to make a very delicious product, but like I've said the extreme twiginess should have been noted somewhere.

Very good quality
This is the real roasted twig tea, unique roasted taste but benefits of green tea. Use for a pot 1 1/2 tsp, and enjoy it fresh brewed or cold or re heat. One pot lasts me all day! love it!

Hojicha green tea
Hojicha is my favorite kind of green tea from Japan and this one tastes like what you get in Japan. I should know because I was born and raised in Japan. Since it’s not cheap, I save this for when I can take the time to enjoy it. Great stuff.

Just okay hojicha
This tea is all stems… I probably should have done more research and purchased a Japanese tea, I would not buy this again.

Traditional Japanese-style tea, but from India
If I remember right, Chota Tingrai is a well-known tea estate in India. Since I like the flavor of this tea a lot, I have no complaints. And the price was moderate.
