Large Overpriced soyabean chunks
These are nothing more than large soyachunks dipped in brine. Firstly i was unsatisfied with the damaged and dented packaging. My disappointed rose a whole new level after tasting the cooked food. The masala that comes with it might taste good to some people, but I found it too spicy the blend of the different ingredients just didn't feel right to me. The ovego mock meat is far better and I would recommend that product to anyone reading this review.

good alternative for meat
the texture is so good that it almost feels like real meat, if cooked well but make sure you follow the recipe mentioned and must marinate it for 2 hours at least, otherwise it just tastes blunt, use proper spices to make it tastier

Pretty good mock meat
I don’t understand the negative reviews for this product. I was a bit sceptical about ordering this mock meat when I first read the reviews but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. To my surprise it actually tasted pretty good, and it definitely did not taste like soya chunks. Even the quantity was fair for the price.

Total waste
Don't buy this. Waste of money. Regular soya chunks is better than this.

Not only this doesn't taste like chicken, it's extremely salty and with an unpleasant odor. Ruined my dinner trying to cook it, even following the instructions.

I did a tandoori style home recipe and had it marinating for 9 hours. We did it on a braai. Absolutely mind blowing! Texture was great it soaked the flavors brilliantly!

I recently tried the Desi Treat Vegan Mock Chicken (800g), and it’s a strong contender for anyone looking to reduce their meat intake without sacrificing texture. Here is my breakdown of the experience: The Pros Impressive Texture: The "firm bite" mentioned in the description is no joke. Unlike some plant-based options that turn to mush, this holds its shape beautifully in curries and stir-fries. True "Blank Canvas": Because there are no added flavors or preservatives, it really is a neutral base. It absorbs spices and marinades exceptionally well, making it versatile for both Indian gravies and Western dishes. Convenience & Shelf Life: The 15-month shelf life is a huge plus. It’s great to have a high-protein, cholesterol-free option sitting in the pantry for those nights when you haven't done a fresh grocery run. Value: At 800g, the portion size is generous. It easily served my family of four with some leftovers to spare. The Cons Preparation Prep: Because it is so neutral and comes in a brine/tin format, you really have to put in the work to flavor it. If you don't marinate it deeply or sear it first, it can taste a bit "plain" right out of the package. Slight Aftertaste: There is a very faint "canned" scent when you first open it (common with mock meats), which requires a good rinse and a few extra minutes of sautéing to cook off. Final Verdict: It’s a fantastic, healthy alternative for vegans or "flexitarians." It isn't exactly a "heat and eat" meal since you need to provide the flavor, but if you enjoy cooking, it's a perfect substitute for real chicken. I’ll definitely keep a tin in my cupboard for busy weeknights!

If you season it well, this is a perfect chicken replacement. The texture is on point.
