Works well, soft, blends roots and highlights
Girls, for you. I’m a mousy blonde/light brown getting highlights. Can’t really afford this specific month to get a touch up as i just moved and got quoted 400 bucks, so no. Grown out roots 3-4 months. Porous slavic hair, very quick to wash out colour, not a single kink very very straight. Currently quite damaged. Colour: Golden Gloss Applied to test strand, thought it did nothing, held one strand for 10 min one for 30min. over all i was like okay well it’s not going green that’s good okay let’s go. Applied to full head including roots. goal was to blend it and make it less noticeable of a shift in colour between dyed and natural. Held for 30 minutes. Washed out and here is the result. To me, it looks very warm and almost with a slight rosy tint. Leans rosy not orange brassy. While i would in an ideal world go for a cooler tone, i don’t think i’d recommend going darker. My previous experience i had was with the Glaze products. it turned my hair GREEN. fully green tinted. DO NOT DO THAT on colored highlighted hair. it’s not for us. Glaze was awful. i had to cut off to a bob to grow it out. Overall i was very worried this product would do the same, but nope i survived. Do i love it for this rosy warm tint, no. Do i love the softness and the effect that it had to make it more unified? yes. do test patches. photo 1: before (in pink top) photo 2: same lighting as photo 1 photo 3: different lighting (that’s where i see the pinkness) goodluck!

Miracle product
This review is long overdue. I’ve been using this for about a year now to cover grays on my dark brunette hair. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it does a better job than my salon (which I paid $400 for). It colors my grays a lighter shade of brown, which I don’t mind at all because it gives dimension. It does fade and need to be refreshed over time. Redoing it every 2 weeks would be ideal, but it looks pretty good for maybe 4 weeks. The mess intimidated me at first, but wearing gloves and cleaning the sink right afterwards to prevent staining works just fine. I’ve tried both the cool espresso and the touch of chocolate colors, and find that the cool espresso better matches my dark brunette hair. The gray coverage is about 70%, but that’s probably because I’m not meticulous about applying it evenly. I think the color swatches make it look more black/flat than it is. It’s a lovely deep brown. I cannot recommend this highly enough

Good for semi/soft-coverage for brunettes greys
This is good for people with dark hair growing out their greys. I added before and after pics. My hairdresser attempted to dye my roots with a lighter color to soften the greys that grew out. This resulted in dark hair followed by a section of light hair and then dark hair again with greys showing through all of it. Not cute. I didn’t want to lighten my hair and deal with the upkeep either. I will say I washed my hair, dried my roots a bit and then left this on for 30 min before rinsing. My goal is to have my greys grow out so for me this will work as it’s not temporary. It basically just softens the grow out. It does not cover the greys like a proper permanent dye.

Covers grays pretty well!
Pretty awesome. So I loathe dying my roots (grays) and I usually miss spots and hard to keep in place on my own head. Decided to try this and I Applied to my dry hair (Use gloves) and then got into the shower and kept it on while I washed my whole body and shaved. Product Stayed on my head maybe 20 min total before wetting in the shower, and then I shampooed out and used a deep conditioning mask. It is pretty pigmented and covered most of my grays. Doesn’t smell like anything. It’s not as pigmented as using actual hair dye, but it’s pretty close! was a lot easier for me to use in between getting my hair done professionally than having to mix color and developer myself and apply it. I think I like it! I have longer hair (between shoulder blades and mid-back, but layered) and I used about half the tube. I wanted to make sure I got good coverage and I really rubbed it into and reapplied on the areas around my scalp where I develop gray hair. It’s pretty close to my normal hair color, but may need a toner. Will see how it wears and the color looks over the next few days, but so far I am pretty happy with it!

Turned my gray hair orange.
11/4/25. I wanted to love this. I'm trying to take a break from coloring my hair, I'm 67 yrs old and thought this might help me through this transition of going gray since it's not permanent and washes out quick. While my hair is soft after using, it actually turns the gray hair an unwanted orange color. So the gray line around my face is now orange. My hair is thinning and fine and I had hoped this would give it more dimension . I'm not saying this is a bad product, it just isn't what I had hoped for. It didn't damage my hair at all and the ends are definately darker, enough so it covers the orange when styled, and the gray comes through again pretty quick, so if you are trying this method to get thru this awful transition, save your money. I would have given this a 4 but the orange!! UGH! I also want to add that like hair color, this product will help with shine and softness. I am predisposed to red hair, thanks to my Beloved Mother! Scottish heritage. So again, while I believe this is a good product, it just isn't the answer to my problem. One other thing, it's quite a process, you must first wash your hair, towel dry, and then apply this toner, wait ten minutes {or how ever long you prefer to have it on}, and then rinse it out. If I think of anything else to add, I will do an update.

excellent gray coverage with Cool Espresso color on dark brown hair
I've been looking for a low-toxin semi-permanent gray coverage option. I have fine dark brown hair. I used an ample amount of this in Cool Espresso on dry hair and left it on for about an hour, then rinsed it out with just water (no shampoo). Be careful to wash it off sink/tub because it can stain. It gave an excellent color, great gray coverage, hair looks great. I didn't use heat or a wrap or anything, just left it on hair pulled back in bun then rinsed it out. My hair looks really nice and I love the tone, should go well with lots of skin tones. What I appreciate most is that the color is balanced well (not too purple or green) and doesn't make it look like it's obvious you dyed your hair. There's that look with some black hair colors where you can tell the person dyes their hair. I used to run into that with the dark brown/black color (Espresso) from Keracolor. It's not obvious you dyed your hair with this Wella Espresso color, it's a more natural-looking color. Glad there is finally something that works for grays on dark brown hair and doesn't look too artificial or fake. It's also pretty easy to apply, I prefer the squeeze bottle over the pump and the mixture is thicker and less prone to splattering than with Keracolor. You can see from the before/after photos that it covered a good amount of gray that was in my hair before

Not a one time miracle but def a solid helper!!
I had a lot of blonde in my hair that I recently covered with a dark dye, but as expected, the color faded faster from the more porous areas. After about six weeks, the top of my hair (where most of the blonde was) had lightened to a light brown, while the ends stayed a cool espresso shade. I didn’t want to go back to the salon so soon, so I picked up this color depositing mask. I followed the directions, I shampooed in the shower, rinsed thoroughly, wrung my hair out well, and even stepped out of the tub to towel dry it a bit more. Then I put on gloves, applied the mask generously, brushed it through evenly, and left it on for about 15 minutes. It worked pretty well. The top was still slightly lighter, and it didn’t affect my roots much the first time, but I could already see an improvement. Two days later, I applied it again, this time focusing on my roots and the top of my head. I used a different conditioner on the bottom since that part was already dark. After the second use, I was much happier with the results. Everything looked more blended, my roots were better toned, and the previously blonde areas on top were darker, making my overall color more uniform and just prettier ✨💖🥰 It also made my hair incredibly soft, shiny, and smooth. I love the formula! It’s perfect for stretching time between salon visits, especially if you’re trying to avoid more damage after bleaching. I’ve already bought another bottle. I think it works really well, but it’s not necessarily a one and done miracle, especially if your hair has multiple tones like mine. Stick with it and give it a couple of uses for the best results. I can’t wait to see how it looks after another use or two. Definitely a lifesaver! PS - I applied it only to my naturally lighter roots (which had already blended pretty well after my first two mask treatments as you can see in the photos). I put it on dry hair and let it sit for 15–20 minutes to really deepen the color, and it worked beautifully. If roots is all you plan to do, just keep in mind it may take a couple of applications to reach your desired shade because I did already do the mask twice on wet hair.

Pretty Color and Shine
This is an effective way add temporary color to hair. I sometimes use it to get me from salon color to color. The Color it adds usually will last through 3 to 4 shampoos or more so I am cautious about washing my hair too often. It’s easy to apply. I recommended it. However, I removed one star because of the application process. It is supposed to be applied to clean towel dried hair. I don’t like washing my hair in a sink so it means that I get in the shower, wash my hair, get out and towel dry it. Then I wait for 10 minute application time and get back in the shower so that it can be removed. But it’s a minor inconvenience. It takes a while to rinse it out, so don’t put more than you need on when you apply it. It does leave my hair pretty and shiny.
