The light brown and dark brown colors are very realistic looking in my opinion. They have great staying power as well. The way I use these freckle pens is to dab only a few spots on at a time, and then tap my finger over each spot quickly to make them more subtle. If you just put dots everywhere and leave it, it's way too dark to look natural. The product sets really fast, so you have to work quickly. The freckles stay put on my skin and don't seem to smudge. It you put some where you don't want it- let it dry -then use a spoolie to gently scratch it away without disturbing any makeup underneath (similar to mascara). Love these! :)

Definitely passed the smudge test, i know it’s not marketed as waterproof, but decided to test it anyway. It’s not, but still really impressed. You have to dab it after applying or it’ll look super unnatural. It also dries very quickly so dab immediately. I would also pair it with bronzer and blush. I think both shades work really well. I used the lighter pen for a large area and went back in with the darker pen for small mole like spots. But honestly looks great, easy to use, and I imagine if you kept practicing it’d look even better.
