Solid, works well, a little heavy, buy lead separate
super cool! feels heavy, but weighs 0.9oz on the scale if you're counting those things. It does not come with any extra lead. I like the thick lead, it pairs really well with the water resist note books.

Great pencil, but be careful about security
Writes really well, but the black lead tends to smear and can be difficult to erase with normal erasers. The eraser on back of pencil seems to work just fine though. The red lead refills don't smear, but they also don't erase. Comfortable to write with for long periods. Super durable and simple design that just works really well. Would be nice if there was a lead pointer available that works with this size lead. Overall, well worth the extra cost over regular lead pencils. Be careful about going through airport security or security at government buildings. When my backpack went through a scanner, I had some of these pencils inside, and they looked like loose ammunition on the scanner. The security guards who pulled me aside were initially rather freaked out, but they thought these pencils were pretty cool after they figured out that they were what set off the scanner

Nice michanical pencil.
This Rite In The Rain pencil in much nicer then the older models. I like that it has weight to it and feels good in the hand. It writes very well and the lead deploys and retracts easily without any hiccups. I tend to press down hard when writing and always snap thinner lead pencils. This 1.3mm lead is great and after just a few pages of writing can tell it's going to be one of my favorite pencils. I did not rate the durability do to just receiving it but I have no doubt it will last a long time. I gave the value 4 stars because for a pencil at this price it would have been nice to receive extra lead and a couple erasers. It will be another 14 dollars for lead and erasers but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. My original Rite In The Rain pencil is now three years old and still going strong but it just feels to light and small in diameter in my large hands. I like the metal pinch area and just that little large diameter makes a big difference when writing for long periods of time. Is it worth it, I think so and I would definitely purchase another one. The eraser works very well and the lead is super strong. I read a few reviews on people breaking these pencil's so I applied pressure to the plastic part with my thumb and it was plenty strong and I am a welder with large strong hands. Maybe don't sit on it or purposely try snapping it to test it's strength. Well worth the money if you use it for what it was fabricated for. You can't go wrong with any Write In The Rain product but then again that is just my opinion after using there products for years. Heavy handed approved.

Excellent pencil!
This is heavy duty, easily visible, and the lead advance mechanism works great. It’s got 1.3mm lead, writes a nice heavy line. It comes with high quality lead that’s twice as long as standard leads, but you can use any 1.3 lead in it. It’s got a solid heft and a knurled metal grip. Pretty impressive, especially for the price.

Great product
I have had this pencil for over a year and use it nearly every work day. It is very durable. The pencil still works great. I use the pencil to mark on bricks, wood, pipe, and write on paper (it does it all). I would buy again it is well worth the money. Fits in the hand like any other mechanical pencil with a slightly larger grip on the end for a little better grip and it has more heft to it then most pencils.

Favorite Lead Pencil
My new favorite lead pencil because it doesn’t break and easily writes on damp paper. I use these all the time. Writes smoothly. I’m an avid Sudoku player and these are perfect for not ripping the pages or breaking. This is value for the money.

Very nice Mechanical Pencil (lead holder)
I have been a fan of high quality mechanical pencils since my drafting classes in high-school and college. I am also an avid sketcher so many of my pencils have served a dual purpose. I have various pentels (.5, .7 and .9) but the pencil that sits on my desk most days is a Alvin Draft-matic. I was looking for a new pencil for sketching - hoping for either blue or red lead for easier inking. I came across the rite on rain line and was going to purchase through their website but they wanted to charge almost $20 for shipping. I decided to check amazon and was happy to find they were available with prime here. I ordered the orange body (closest to red) and the red leads. This pencil is more of a lead holder than a traditional mechanical pencil, as it is designed to hold only one piece of lead in the tube at a time. It is also 1.3mm, so much closer to what you get with a traditional lead holder. The body of the pencil is plastic - a little larger in diameter than the cheap octagonal pencils sold at big box stores but of a similar material. The cap is knurled metal with a plastic eraser holder (eraser refills can be purchased separately). A black metal spring clip rests in a tubular notch above the octagonal body. The grip is oversized knurled metal, but a much finder knurl than what I have on my Alvin Draft-Matic, and is about twice the diameter. The tip is also metal. The lead advance action is smooth, with no harsh clicking and advances the lead about 2mm per click. the oversized knurl adds some heft to the pencil weighing in at 27g/.95oz vs my Alvin at 17g/.56oz. Since the weight is focused on the knurl i doubt it will lead to any additional writing fatigue.

Liked the fact that the lead in the pencils were stronger than my other mechanical pencils. The eraser worked without tearing the paper. I loved the different colours of the pencils as well. Not so easy for them to hide in plain site.
