I want to learn to paint with Acrylics I know something about watercolor, but noting about acrylics. This book begins at the beginning and each lesson brings me closer to be able to paint with Acrylics.

I love arts and crafts and bought this for my granddaughter that is just getting into painting. It’s perfect for beginners, it’s easy to follow step by step directions… it has great tips too. Buy this!

Acrylics are not as cheap at watercolors because eventually you probably want to use canvas instead of paper and so before jumping into painting with these colors, I would advise that water colors are the best start and prep for kids. Once the kids are ready to actually follow instructions and treat the lessons on this book as real art lessons, this book does a good job of teaching technique to kids. The introduction explains the different paints that can be used, explains canvas versus paper and also teaches how to properly set up an area dedicated to painting. Then the lessons start and become increasingly complex. While the introduction covers topics such as space and texture, the next lessons cover topics such as still life, the effect of light and how to achieve a drip painting. For some 8 year old the introduction and the tone of the lessons may be a bit boring, even if the parent is present and helps. So I advise parents use their judgment when the child is ready for this style of lesson to ensure that painting is still fun for the kid and does not end up a chore. Overall, I think the book does a good job of providing professional-style art lessons in book form.I received a free copy of the book from the publisher.

Bought this for my 10 year old daughter. I'm very pleased with it. It explains everything in a way that a child can understand it, and the step by step instructions have an image accompanying each, so it's truly easy for beginners. It explains the type of paints, the tools, all sorts of good advices and info to help you, and it's just simple to follow instructions. Love it!!!

Bought this book for my grand nephew's 7th birthday. He is super interested in art. We spent an entire afternoon using this book as instruction for acrylic painting (he rarely needed my help!). He loved the book and is able to use it to learn and work on his own. Highly recommended.

These are cute! We gave "How to Paint with Acrylics: An Art Book for Kids Ages 8 to 12" to our art enthusiast neighbor, and they absolutely loved it. Can't wait to see what masterpieces they come up with now! Who knows, maybe the next big artist is just around the corner, and we'll get to say we knew them when they were still painting stick figures! Highly recommend for any young aspiring artist.
