good cleaning rod that I use often
I bought this cleaning rod to use on my .22LR caliber rifles. It does work okay on them but I think it is really designed to work best with 22 caliber centerfire rifles like .223 or 22-250, etc. It is a tight fit when using it with a .22LR caliber rifle. But it does work and I still use it on my .22LR rifles. I thought the coating on the rod would be great to help protect the bore of the rifles but it seems to chip and scrape off easily on contact with sharp edges so I am not sure the coating is really needed. Other than that it is a good quality cleaning rod that I use often.

Okay Cleaning Rod
I got this "one-piece" coated cleaning rod to help protect the bore during cleaning but the coating is starting to flake off near the patch-holder and at the screw joint. It's really not "one-piece" because the patch holder screws onto the rod. I don't know if the one I got just had a poor coating job or if the solvents are just too much for the coating. I think I'll go with a carbon fiber rod in the future. I also thought the 33" length would be plenty long but with at least one brand of bore guide in my Weatherby Vanguard S2 .30-06 the patch will not fully clear the end of the muzzle - works okay with another shorter brand of bore guide though.

IT WORKS BUT.....
This cleaning rod does a good job but as others have noted the red coating can and does rub off. I bought it to clean a 22 carbine and the first time I used it I noticed there were long and deep scratches in the red coating. When I inspected the bore it indeed had several traces of that red coating deposited there. Not a good situation. The rod portion of this item is flexible almost to the point of being flimsy. The reason for this is that the rod's diameter has to be kept small because it is designated for all calibers from .22 to .45. After seeing the red deposits in the bore of my .22 I chose to buy a Pro-Shot cleaning rod for my Beretta CX4. In my opinion Pro-Shot produces a little better product. Because of the rod's flimsiness and the coating it deposited in the bore of my .22 I rated it as a two star product.

I like the ridgid rod
But the outer protective coating is coming off. I have read other reviews about this and I thought I could treat it better and it would not do that. WRONG!! You can't help rub it up against the breach or stock or work bench and it is made of steel underneath. I bought a stainless steel solid rod (little more expense) but I don't have to worry about the coating anymore.

good solid cleaning rod
After snapping the connecting ends off the cheap cleaning kit rod ends I got tired and just got a solid one for cleaning my rifle . I know I will not have to tilt my rifle to wiggle out the broken section of the cleaning rod out the end of the rifle ever again . I bought 2 one to replace the one I broke at a friends house and one for myself . Great investment so far and it fits all of my bore brushes and mops except for my shotgun which uses bigger threads . I may have to get an adapter but that is neither here or there .
