Awesome grill/smoker combo.
I love this grill/smoker combo. If you are into charcoal, this grill is by far the cheapest one with cast iron grates, and the heat is adjustable by raising or lowering the coals. The smoker is easy to set up and use. Although temperature regulation can be tricky, that's the way it is without an electronic regulator. Once you get the hang of seasoning the grill (Pam or other oil spray is the way to go) it's easy to keep clean and prevent food from sticking to the grates.

Nicest grill I have owned
I started out with hibachi grills because it was just me and the wife. Eventually I moved "down" to a gas grill. Never again. Nothing like good charcoal grilled meat. Once that wore out and not too soon, I got a cheap charcoal grill similar in design to this one but about a third of the size. Honestly, I did not take care of it, and it just sat out in the weather, but it lasted a number of years before the bottom rusted out. I liked the way I could "smoke' the meat more with the barrel type and decided to go with a new one. Wanting a little better-quality grill, I ran across this brand (Char-Griller Pro Deluxe Model#E2827). It was somewhat bigger than the previous one, but it was the smallest they had with what I wanted. I ordered the cover for it also since I am planning on taking better care of this one. I did have one for the old grill, but it lasted one year. It was made of a really thin poly and literally crumbled apart the next year. I really hoped this cover would be better. The grill came first and the cover about a week and a half later. I decided to wait to put the grill together after the cover came because I was determined to take care of this one considering it cost me a lot more. I opened the box to make sure it was ok. It is heavy and the box was banged up some, but the grill did not seem to have any damage to it. Well, put together day came. I carried the pieces to the deck since it has steps and did not want to try to drag it up to the deck after it was built. I would recommend having something to put the small parts in. Such a tray. The bolts. nuts and small hardware pieces come in cardboard covered in plastic with each type of different part in its own compartment on the cardboard. parts can fly around trying to get them out if you are not careful. The instruction manual has a listing of parts, and they are easy to identify. I suggest thinking twice and making sure you are using the right length of bolt per instructions. I found that some of the major parts were sticky and later, after reading in the documentation that it is precoated with some type of oil for conditioning. Construction was pretty intuitive until I got to the warming tray. I had to study the instruction diagram to figure out how it was supposed to go on the grill. The instructions were not very clear at this point. The upper hinge wires (left and right sides) are attached by two longer bolts. You will want to insert the two bolts through the upper barrel lid then put a NUT on each of them. The upper wire hinge will then go over the end of the bolt followed by another nut. You can then tighten the first nuts (left and right) up against the grill lid to hold the screws securely. The second set of nuts can then be screwed on more to secure the wire hinges toward the ends of the screws, but not too much or you will bend the hinge wires. Construction was straight forward - it's a grill. If I can do this at 72, you can. Once completed, I proceeded to follow the directions to season the grill. My old grill was smaller with a single steel cooking grate. I could just lift/tilt it up and it would rest it on the upper lid to access the coal area. This grill comes with 4 sections of cast iron grates. The grill comes with a cast iron grate lifter that will lift a section at a time. It works great (pun intended) once you figure out how to inset it into the grate and lift. Hey, I'm 72, give me a break. During the seasoning process, I noticed that the thermometer was not moving. I tapped it and it jumped ahead a little. I found that the needle was tilted into the face of the thermometer and was keeping it from moving properly. I went online and registered the product with the company and while there, I sent a note and picture of the thermometer to support asking if I could get a replacement. After a couple of days I got a note back from the company saying that they are shipping a replacement. Can't ask for anything more than that. The cover fits really good. It is definitely made of heavier material and should last longer than a year. The grilling surface is much larger than I had before. It will allow for better placement of coals and a range of cooking areas. Time to elevate my cooking expertise. The only drawback to this larger grill is that it is a smidgeon more than needed for two people. Now I am searching for some friends to have over.

Versatile while inexpensive.
The price, one sale, could not be beat. The grill is exactly what I was looking for. A large surface for larger quantities like ribs. Coupled with a side smoker box that gives a smaller surface. This is a great grill if you don't want to spend $$$$$$$$.

Good for the price.
Assembly is a little wonky. And whoever designed the packaging for the hardware should be locked away for all eternity, but for the price it is a good grill. It has some nice festures for a cheaper grill. The adjustable height rack is nice. The included hooks are a little small but good to have for hanging tongs and other things on. It is sturdier than it seems like it would be as you are building it. Would recommend.

Great grill, they last for years
We always get this brand. They hold up for years. We use the grill often so they really get a work out around here. Perfect for grilling, but it is very easy to smoke on these too. They come in different sizes, so you can choose the one that works for your space.

Nice grill , but was damaged upon opening box that it was shipped in.
One of the 2 pieces needed for the fold down front shelf was damaged and required touch up paint. You can still see the dented piece, but it's not as noticeable. If it wasn't so close to Christmas (I assembled it today 12/21/2024) ,I would have sent it back..! I expected my purchase to be shipped in a more professional way.
