I was not surprised to see among the many positive reviews of "The Self-Esteem Workbook" that readers are going through it with a counselor. It's an outstanding workbook filled with helpful insights, exercises and practices. I do believe it will be most helpful to go through it with a counselor or trusted friend so that you can discuss the content and how to apply it. If someone else isn't available, one will still benefit from going through the workbook on your own as I did. Dr. Schiraldi is a trustworthy, well-respected expert and his comprehensive knowledge is clearly seen in all the great content he included. Highly recommended!

Life changing.
My therapist recommended this workbook to me. I have childhood trauma and apparently lacked self-worth, and didn't realize it because I don't lack confidence, etc. Within a couple of chapters of this workbook, I was already having epiphanies about my struggles to receive compliments, and feel like I am doing enough. I can't recommend it enough, and now make my friends buy it, too! I'm so glad my therapist recommended this. Mental health is so important, invest in it with this workbook!

Interesting.
My therapist suggest I get this book. We are working through it during our therapy sessions. I never realized how low my self esteem was until I read this book. This book has helped me heal my inner self and understand past things.

Simple but very good
The idea and skills introduced are simple to understand. I find myself on track to recovery after using some skills. We are different. Choose what skills most suitable for you. I recommend this book.

It Works If You Work it
This workbook was equally as helpful to me as the Self-Esteem book was. It was my experience that although one could work this book alone quite easily, more can be gained by doing them at the same time. Having both texts assists with definitions, assessments, and ways of looking at things. The Self-Esteem Checkup immediately revealed to me I was doing the right book. I also got a lot out of the Physical Preparation section, which gave me a boost of confidence knowing that I already take care of my body in terms of diet and exercise. I painted my opinion of myself as the book suggested, using oils as my medium. I created a very revealing artwork, which details four different faces of me.I used to be big on Self-Defeating thoughts, but by working in this book I am quicker to recognize them and replace them with more positive and self-loving thoughts. I copied many of the Daily Thought Records and worked hard in this section.I did the Eyes of Love Meditation and read it to myself for months afterwards, along with the Even-Though, Never-the-Less activity. I also made many copies of the Skill Building Worksheet and realized how my negative self-talk eats away at my self-esteem. Through this work I learned more positive self-talk, which improved my self-esteem. Doing this work took time and effort, but it is time well spent. It helped me to feel better about myself. Got this to help build my confidence and stop being so hard on myself, especially at work. I liked reading it but the prompts weren’t as fulfilling as I had hoped. I do think it’s good for the piece though!
