Wholesomely wonderful!
Not close to the book, but that's all the better for both watching and then reading the book.

Sweet movie
It's a great movie. I love Megan Follows. It is slow but I think we in this time need to slow down and enjoy a real story. This story is not based on a real life story that I am aware of but it it feels real. A good dose of reality in a sweet movie is what you will get when you watch this.

Nothing like the book
This movie version has completely butchered the book, doing away with the character of Clover completely for example. But even if you ignore the book and are looking for a good movie, this one is weak at best. The plot just meanders along without any memorable moments at all. None of the characters are compelling (unlike in the book), and unlike the Avonlea series or Anne of Green Gables, the ordinariness of everyday life is just plain boring in this film. Much of the blame lies in the film's refusal to explain who all the characters are and what their relationship to one another is. This can't be justified by saying that you'd know all this if you'd read the book in advance. As I said, they changed everything and even got rid of Clover!!! Some scenes feel like pure filler. There are also several cues that are not followed through. So Katy helps a homeless man, and he comes back twice to meet her. You expect that this will mean something later in the plot, but it doesn't. There are other details like this that are just weakly lifted fragments from the book.

It was a decent movie, especially for children. However, the plot failed to gain the attention of the older children and adults in my family. A young girl is constantly getting into trouble, so her father decides to send her to boarding school, but he later changes his mind. Her terminally ill young aunt and a crippling (temporary) accident of her own aids in changing her behavior.

cute movie
After watching "Morse" and "Lewis", I thought I would enjoy another movie with Kevin Whately. Loved the period clothes but the plot was bland and slow. The acting wasn't that bad. The strong characters were that "strong".

A movie for the whole family
This is a nice family film, similar to Anne of Green Gables. It is based on the book by the same name and stuck to the story pretty well. The ending felt rushed, but we still enjoyed it.

Wholesome family movie
This is a cute movie for the whole family. It shows the tenaciousness of a young girl as she tries to find where she fits in and learn the value of family.

WHERE WAS CLOVER?
Apart from Clover being missing I really enjoyed this adaptation of "What Katy did". 'The characters were well written and acted. the story followed the book, although cousin Helen dying was not, although it did fit with the time constraints of the fim.

Shouldn't be named after the book
They should have just changed the title - the movie bears very little resemblance to the book. Fans of the book will be very disappointed. You have to ask, if they didn't want to keep the story at least somewhat similar, why bother giving the movie this title? A waste of money.
