Excellent germination. A third of the pots were destroyed ...
Planted in peat pots. Excellent germination. A third of the pots were destroyed by squirrels. I will not blame you for that! So I didn't delay any further and they are now planted in appropriate ground and doing very well. I am 95 years old and will tell you a story:: A seedling was brought to a young man and his response was "I don't have the time to plant it. So it was brought to a middle aged man and he said " Too late" Then it was brought to an old man (that's me) and he planted it.Thank You

we truly recommend going through Seeds Needs
For those interested in obtaining seeds for whatever purposes you desire, we truly recommend going through Seeds Needs. Packaged with care, shipped with promptness, and to purchase from a family owned company who makes it a goal to work with growers using an open pollination process and hand picking was an amazing selling point for us. My fiance spent some time in the field working with butterfly milkweed so we know the significance of the plant; especially in restoration efforts. So, with everything going on in our nation from an environmental perspective we thought it would be a great idea to spread a little beauty and fuel the Monarch population through our wedding guests (fingers crossed that they sow these seeds). Low and behold we come to find out that Seeds Needs also donates to poverty stricken children so it became very clear that we couldn't buy from another source. I hope this finds the people who work with and for Seeds Needs in a good spot and thanks for helping make our wedding day gifts something significant for no one we know, the place we live, and towards a future as bright as our own.

Wow!!! After stratification they germinated
First time I have grown butterfly weed seeds. First of all there were about 145 seeds in my package. I stratified all the seeds and 130 seeds germinated. Planted them in a Sandy mixture and used a germination mat. In a few days they pushed through the sandy mixture. Proof is the photo below.

Good seed source but high postage.
Mailing postage is high for a packet of seeds but they sprouted well. Left pkg. in fridge for 4 weeks then placed a few seeds in a bowl of distilled water. In about 5 days they sprouted and were potted until they grow larger. Recently my research found that the tuberosa leaves are usually too tough for Monarch caterpillars to eat, however, the butterflies will utilize the flowers. A better purchase is Swamp Milkweeds for the caterpillars.

Fast Growing
Monarch butterflies make their journey through our backyard during their migration. Because of the damage people do with insecticides, many milkweeds are gone from the environment. If the Monarch doesn't have milkweed to lay eggs on, especially in Virginia, then the species will not survive another 10 years. It is a great way to do just do your part. Buy some, sprinkle in your garden, and watch them bloom. This brand was hearty and we expect to see them come up again. I noticed there was a lot of Aphids that gravitated to the milkweed after the Monarch season, so if you see a problem remember do NOT use insecticide! Poison is indiscriminate. You can't target one bug and expect the others to survive. So if you see Aphids, you might need to do a little research to see what's best to eliminate them.

Excellent seeds.
Most all of the Milkweed seeds sprouted. The seeds are high quality. What I'd like to pass along to others is this: when you are growing the seedlings in a controlled environment, ease them into the hot sun. When I transported the seedlings from the "hothouse" to the actual Miami summer, many did not make it. My uncle owns a nursery here in Miami and he said I should have taken the seedlings to a shaded area outside before they were exposed to the full sun.Despite the seedlings struggling at first, a good percentage have come back and I am enjoying watching them grow.

Had 100% success
I have been trying to grow milkweed from seeds for several months. Anything I bought from local stores, wasn't germinating. I bought these, stratified them as instructed on the package and planted them. They germinated within days and kept growing after that.I didn't think they'd do so well, but I now have 8 pots, all with several baby milkweed growing. 100% success. I highly recommend this product.

Great For Kids
These seeds came quickly. We started them indoors and have had great progress with germination. It says to keep in the fridge for a few weeks prior. Some plants require cold to help germination in cooler areas. We plan to move them outdoors once frost is no longer an issue. We live in Colorado.Great gift for kids to see flowers grow, as well as watch them attract butterfly’s in the summer. Milkweed is native flower for monarch butterflies that is over looked. Would recommend to buy.
