Making the Cut: What Separates the Best From the Rest

From the heart
I met Chris online when he was first starting to build a following for his culinary passion. Casually getting to know the man behind the message; I found his passion for humanity and humility for a more compassionate life and world... were the key ingredients to his success... That we all know "isn't what people think." He gives a clear picture of the reality the world still faces and the depths of the service and pain we of the culinary world often face. Often a reflection of the lost souls trying to do more than make it through this world alive... But bring a newer, gentler, more compassionate way of living. Evolving how we serve each other. He doesn't shy away from hardships or perspectives of those who have faced the harsh realities of this world. Yet elegantly keeps the focus on the way forward. His respect and desire for all paths are remarkable. The length to which he has gone to explore so many different approaches and give us a look into the best of all worlds is really... Flat out... Inspiring. If you are a young cook. You want to read this. If you are a human being interested in humility... You want to read this. If you can't read... You want to learn. Chris makes it easy. Don't be scared of anything.

Loved it! Wish it was in Audio too!
Making the Cut offers a rare look into some great minds, giving physical form to insights you might know deep in your gut, but have questioned for so long now. I'd recommend reading this book to most anyone, both in and out of the kitchen, who needs to get some perspective about their purpose and personal goals. Especially those people who have audacious goals in life and would like to impact the world.Wish there was an audible version, as I'd play it in my car to and from work each day to keep my mind in check. Excited to see what else this author generates for my personal mental consumption :-)

This book saved my career
I love this book. I pre-ordered it while in life crisis, and when I first read it, I was able to perfectly relate to a lot of the writings in this book. It helped me end up deciding to continue my career as a chef and culinarian and helped me to remember the reasons why I initially chose this career path and that I truly enjoy and love cooking. I feel this is a must read for anyone in the industry, new or old

Coming from an avid reader (2-3 books per month) who is HYPER critical about books, this was a great read. It was evident the author put in some serious work from a research standpoint. I'm typically skeptical when it comes to books predicated on interviews, however, the author transitions nicely between original thought and the experiences from the chefs he engaged. There is very good continuity in the book, which sometimes can fall short with interview based books. I found that this book has lessons applicable in various industries (and lifestyles), but it's excellent for anyone striving for success in the culinary industry. I thoroughly enjoyed. Bravo to the author :)

Loved it.
I enjoyed the reading a lot. Is full of real life examples of how we live our life behind the stove, and also about all the struggle of a professional cook in his day to day.The story of chef Chris Hill is inspiring to all those new cooks, the not so new and despite being oriented to the people aspiring to become a chef, everybody from different professions can be benefited by the many lessons written in the book.

Absolutely amazing read
This book was absolutely intriguing, mine came in the mail today and I started to read and never sat it down until 3 hours later when I had finished it. This book gives you a great perspective in to the industry hustle and struggles. Whether you are a culinarian or pastry artist you will definitely be able to relate to parts of this book. If you have a dream of making it big one day and owning your own place this is definitely a book you should invest in.

he is a great person. This author supports his fan base
Chris Hill is not any run of the mill Chef, he is a great person. This author supports his fan base. This book is a must read, and is destined to be a New York Times best seller. He is motivational, and truly understands what it takes to succeed as a Chef. He is brutally honest, and direct in his writing. He writes with honesty. This book is a great read for anyone, in any professional filed. I found it a better read than Bourdains Kitchen Confidential. You want to know the way this buissness really is, and what it takes to succeed? Do yourself a favor and read this.
