I've used: purple, golden and aqua marine sea moss when making smoothies. This is whole leaf Irish moss. The moss is completely different. Purple, golden and aqua marine sea moss are more branch like. Whole leaf Irish moss is all leaf. Cleaning. Major difference in cleaning. Purple, golden and aqua marine sea moss, require longer soaking and much more hand washing. Whole leaf Irish moss requires less soaking time in water, also much less hand washing. The whole leaf Irish moss is leaves only and much more fragile. Smell. Has a very sea life smell when dry. After rinsing the smell mostly goes away. Making gel. After washing. In a blender, take a few tablespoons of water and put in with the whole leaf Irish moss. Blend for a few minutes, until you get a gel like consistency. Only add a tablespoon of water at a time. If using within a week, place in a glass vessel with a proper lid, and store in the fridge. For longer storage, put into ice cube trays and freeze in your freezer. Smoothies. Using a portable blender for making smoothies. Add supplements or powders, fresh or frozen fruits and one ice cube of the frozen whole leaf Irish moss gel. A great tasting smoothie without any ocean smell or taste. Overall. This whole leaf Irish moss is the very clean compared to others. Soaking and handwashing was faster and easier than the others. Would recommend to anyone new with sea moss. Great results with less effort. Vegetarian friendly and organic. Hope this was helpful.

From what I gather, there are a few different ways to ingest Irish Sea Moss....there are gummies that contain the nutrients from Irish Sea Moss, you can make a gel from the leaves in this bag, and you can add leaves from this bag to smoothies, etc. I chose to make a tea out of some of the bag after washing it thoroughly in a colander. Even after the washing, it still really smells like sea life/seaweed. I added a little salt to my tea (actually I use the salt alternative, Nu Salt) and it tasted, well, passable. It's drinkable, but not something I would be doing without looking for the health benefits. Note that since it contains carrageenan, it starts to thicken up considerably as the tea begins to cool. Upon receiving the package from Amazon, as soon as you open the bag, the seaweed smell is almost overpowering. Once you wash it, the smell does subside a little bit, but it's still pretty strong. For people looking for Irish Sea Moss, this is the real deal. I'm sure it will make the connoisseur happy.

This whole left sea moss is a nice product and very organic, the affects are noticeable and is a great alternative to a healthy lifestyle. I loved smoothies and blended this sea moss with pineapple, avocado or apple, got rid of my headache in no time. Also helps with my mental focus and gives me energy.
