Men's Outline Hiking Shoes

This is a fairly awesome all-purpose terrain shoe with a few cautions. For me the fit is true to size, in this case a 10.5 is right on the mark. The initial fit was slightly narrow but after a week of general wear, this shoe has adapted and is very comfortable. Then the first adventure onto wet pavement and the fun begins. The sole tread design is similar to a football cleat... great for grass but on a slick wet surface, the traction is marginal at best. There’s just not enough surface area on the sole for good traction. Still a good shoe for dry surfaces.

After backpacking in Big Bend National Park for four days with a 35 pound pack, I must say that the Salomon Outline is a phenomenal backpacking shoe. Usually my feet get extra sweaty, but the abundant mesh helped keep them ventilated and fairly dry. I added a MasterFit footbed because all shoes come with flimsy insoles, but that is to be expected. The outsole on this shoe exceeded all of my expectations. There were a few sketchy climbs and descents on slick surfaces that the Outline was able to tackle effortlessly. The braking lugs on the heel of the shoe actually do their job and offer plenty of stability and confidence when walking on loose downhills. The only think I'd like to see changed in this shoe is the lacing. I love Salomon's quicklace system and I think the Outline could really benefit from it as a fast and light hiking shoe.

My second Salomon. One of the best shoes ever made. They are light and sturdy. The stabilizers provide extreme grip when I play tennis and I am able to run real fast and stop immediately. Strongly recommended if you are looking for nice shoes to play tennis. The designer must love feet!

Suuuuuuper comfortable after a short breaking period, but the lugs on the soles have worn down quicker than I expected. Honestly I've been working on roofs and wanted something super grippy and breathable and I got EXACTLY that in these shoes, but the lugs have only lasted about 3 months before they were totally worn down and I'll need another pair of shoes real soon. Maybe they last longer on real trail.

Difficult to know how hard wearing .unfortunately very tight fitting .Unsuitable for rough terrain and wet conditions .personal opinion .

Quality shoes but having also owned the same shoes in goretex, the fit of these was noticeably poorer. Seemed much larger and far less support. Colour great with the black and dark grey working well with the red accent.

I'm an 11.5 US/CAN size for my shoe, but most of the 11.5s I find in stores are too wide for my narrow foot. These guys hug the sides perfectly, and the support is great. They're way more comfy than my old Nikes, and those were $200 shoes when they were new. Definitely will be buying Salomon from now on.
