Fun!
Another great addition by this author and illustrator. We own almost everyone of this team’s books, and our four year old adores them. The funny thing is noticing the subtle word differences between the original UK and the N.American versions. Honestly, most people in N America do understand these differences, and I wish they would not change them for North American readers.

Wonderful children’s book
This is my favorite children’s author. All my grandchildren live her creative stories. The eight year old didn’t want to listen while I read but by page three he was snuggled up listening to every word. When asked if he liked the story he said I loved it.

Not the best Julia Donelson book - but still definitely worth owning
Just to be clear I gave this book by Julia Donelson / Axel Scheffler 3 stars because compared to other Julia Donelson / Axel Scheffler books it's a 3 star book. Compared to most other children's books though this is a 5 star book without question. I've made the assumption that if you're looking at this book you're familiar with the author and illustrator or are comparing this book to others by them, and not to other children's books by other authors. We own many of the Julia Donelson / Axel Scheffler books, and they are all outstanding. Tiddler does not shine when compared with "The Gruffalo", "The Gruffalo Child", "Room on the Broom" or "Tabby McTat" by the same author and illustrator, but it's still an excellent children's book - and far better than all but the very best out there. The book is the tale of a small and tardy fish who makes up tall stories to cover for his tendency to be late for school, until he unwittingly becomes involved in a real tale of high drama. The illustrations are, as with every Axel Scheffler book, beautiful, detailed and humorous and will have you spending time just combing through the pictures, quite apart from reading the story. In Tiddler, Julia Donelson employs a similar clever rhyming scheme to those used in her other books, and it adds to the charm and memorability of the story. While not Julia Donelson's best children's book (and I'm sure there would be quite an argument over which one exactly that would be), it's certainly a good one. My daughters, aged 3 and 6, love all the Julia Donelson books, and I highly recommend them.Personally, owning many of her books already, I think everyone should own every one of her books - and that's now our goal.Pros:Excellent bookBeautifully illustratedClever, memorable storyChildren will return to and re-read this book over and over againCons:Not their very best, most excellent book - If you are not a Julie Donelson / Axel Scheffler connoisseur, I'd recommend that your first purchase be "The Gruffalo", then possibly "Room on the broom" after which you'll be hoooked and want them all.

Beautiful story
I like all of Ms. Donaldson's stories, this is no exception. I loved reading it with my son, who like Tiddler has a big imagination. He is also a big fan of the animated series Octonauts and very curious about sea animals. All the lines in this story does not rhyme, most lines do. Did anyone else notice the gruffalo fish?

my granddaughter keeps asking me to read it
I got this because my grandkids loved other books by this author and illustrator- The Gruffalo and Tabby McTat. It has beautiful illustration and the story is just complicated enough to keep them engaged and thinking.

Ok, but just not great!
This book by Julia is just does not in the same lilt and story line as many of her other books. My granddaughter loves the others, but not so fond of this one.

Top five best kids book.
This book is in my top five favorite story books for kids. The pictures are really fun to look at. There is a rhythm to this story that is not quite a normal poem, but it is really fun to read aloud.

Great for toddlers
My 2 year old daughter loves this and wants to read it every night. We have most of Julia Donaldson's books and this is definitely her favourite. Previous reviewers have said that the story isn't quite as good as The Gruffalo or others but the variety of pictures is greater which is why my toddler seems to like this one the most. She likes naming or laughing at all the different fish.

Tiddler is a terrific story.
Tiddler is a wonderful story! I’ve read this story to my son hundreds of times and it’s a story that both he and I love. It’s got some humor in it, that he’s gradually picking up on as he gets older and lots of interesting drawings of the sea. The board book is great because it’s a lot more durable for toddlers who are destructive! ;)

Libro con copertina rigida
Le mie bimbe adorano la storia di pesciolino così ho deciso di comprarla anche nella versione inglese. Questa in particolare ha la copertina rigida ed è un edizione molto bella.
